Somewhere in my heart beneath all my grief and pain, Is a smile I still wear at the sound of your dear name.

The precious word is ‘Momma’, she was my world you see,

But now my heart is breaking cause she’s no longer here with me.

God chose her for His angel to watch me from above, To guide me and advise me and know that I’m still loved.

The day she had to leave me when her life on earth was through,

God had better plans for her, for this, I surely knew. When I think of her kind heart and all those loving years,

My memories surround me and I can’t hold back the tears. She truly was my best friend, someone I could confide in,

She always had a tender touch and a warm and gentle grin. I want to thank you Momma for teaching me so well,

And though the time has come that I must bid you this farewell.

I’ll remember all you’ve taught me and make you proud you’ll see.

Thank you my Dear Momma for all the love you showed me.

Although you’ve left this earth and now you’ve taken flight,

I know that you are here with me each morning, noon and night.

Love Eternally, Your Children

I am always with you

When I am gone, release me, let me go.

I have so many things to see and do,

You mustn't tie yourself to me with too many tears,

But be thankful we had so many good years.

I gave you my love, and you can only guess

How much you've given me in happiness.

I thank you for the love that you have shown,

But now it is time I traveled on alone.

So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must

Then let your grief be comforted by trust

That it is only for a while that we must part,

So treasure the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away for life goes on.

And if you need me, call and I will come.

Though you can't see or touch me, I will be near

And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear

All my love around you soft and clear

And then, when you come this way alone,

I'll greet you with a smile and a "Welcome Home".

Love Eternally, Alzada

Profile of Life

On May 30, 1931, in Guyton Georgia Rev. JWH Sr. and Marie Thomas looked into the eyes of their ninth child, a baby girl, and with love in their hearts, they saw their own …

Angel, filled with Love, who would be Zealous for the Lord, Affectionate toward many, Dependable and simply Amazing, and they then called her ALZADA!

A TIME TO LOVE MUCH; A HEART TO SERVE FAMILY AND FRIENDS

At a young age Alzada, lovingly referred to as “Zeke” married the love of her life, Mr. Frank Holt Sr. To this union, seven children were born; of which two children, Earl and Carolyn, preceded her in death. As a devoted wife and mother, her affectionate commitment for children and family did not end in the home. It was through her humble spirit and acts of love that she committed over 30 years of service to children in various schools of Savannah Chatham County School District as a Culinary Specialist. After her retirement, she continued to display genuine acts of love as a caregiver to the family of Dr. Ken and Jill Griffin of Savannah GA. Throughout her life, Zeke was a surrogate mother to many near and far. Her display of genuineness, tenacity and determination coupled with her words of wisdom will span from generation to generation.

Alzada’s faith in God and love for family was priceless. She was a faithful member of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. In addition, she was instrumental in starting the Annual Thomas Family Reunion that unites family members from across the world.

A TIME TO LIVE WELL AND LAUGH OFTEN

As a mother of seven, there was very little time for self- working and caring for the family was a full-time responsibility. However, Zeke understood that life was meant to be lived and not to just to exist. She enjoyed fun times with her family and friends by watching all sports especially baseball, going fishing and finding happiness in yelling “BINGO”. Her smile would capture an audience and her laugh was no different. No matter when or where Zeke was, with her charming sense of humor, she was certain to warm with laughter the souls of those she met.

A TIME TO GO HOME

On April 22, 2018, in the stillness of the morning, God called his daughter Alzada from earth to her heavenly home. The mansion that he had prepared for her was now ready and all of the pain and suffering she endured would be no more. She would now live forever with him. Alzada was preceded in death by her parents, the Reverend JWH and Marie Easley Thomas; her husband, Frank Robert Holt; a son Earl Bernard Holt, a daughter Carolyn Holt Worriels, 2 grandsons Keith Bernard Scott Sr. and Raufeal M. Bostick, siblings; Raleigh (Albertha) Thomas Sr., Corrie Thomas, Rev. B.C. Thomas, Rev. JWH Thomas Jr., Amy Ruth Thomas, Tressa Marie (Hollie) Burns and Anna Thelma (Moses) Robinson.(1) sister-in-law Dorothy Cuyler, (3) brother-in-laws: Sam Cuyler, Lenwood Holt and Clyde Holt.

Alzada leaves to cherish her memories her 5 children: (2) sons Frank Robert Holt Jr., Baltimore MD, Gregory S. (Betty) Holt Savannah GA, (3) daughters; Rev. Dolores (Dee) (Deacon Richard) Davison New Jersey, Debora A. (Larry) Barnette, Belinda Gail Holt both of Savannah GA. (1) son-in-law Arthur Worriels, (1) daughter-in-law Mitchell Holt. (1) brother Cardell (Ann) Thomas, Maryland, (3) sisters Theresa H. (Judge) Oliver, Lynette (Eugene) Lester Savannah, GA, and Mayor Justine (Willie) Brown of Oliver GA, (2) sister-in-laws; Lessie Mallory Atlanta GA and Inez Jones New Jersey(1) brother-in-law Freddie Holt Connecticut. Adopted sons and daughters Bobby (Evon) Lock and Dr. Ken (Jill) Griffin. (23) grandchildren, (45) great-grands, (6) great-great grand. A host of adopted children, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
