Effective January 2019, all businesses generating more than four cubic yards of solid waste per week are required to arrange for organics recycling services for landscape waste and/or food waste organics generated by the business. If a business sells or serves food or has landscaping, the business would be required to establish separate organics collection for both food waste and landscape waste. You can comply by: 1. Separating your organic waste from your trash and subscribing to food and/or landscape organics recycling service with Burrtec Waste Industries. Burrtec can provide a no-cost waste assessment to help get you started. 2. Participate in the following approved organics recycling methods: Contract landscaper removes landscape organics as part of their service and takes the organics to a composting facility. Food waste organics are back-hauled to a distribution center for recycling. Food waste is donated to a non-profit for distribution to those in need. Recycling Considerations: Make Your Program a Success!Ensuring the success of your recycling program depends on a few key elements; most importantly assistance from employees and/or residents. Here are a few pointers to get you started in the right direction.

• Postsignagetoremindemployeesand/orresidentstorecyclespecificitems(cardboard,paper,etc.).Communicationisessential. Newsletters and flyers also reinforce the message.

• Placerecyclingcontainersnexttotrashcontainerstoincreasethechancesofgettingmorerecyclablesintothecorrectcontainer.

• Emptyrecyclingcontainersintotheproperrecyclingbintoensurethatyourbusinessormultifamilyresidentialdwellingisdoingitsparttolowercostsandreducelandfillwaste.

Trash and other contaminants in the recycling or organics collection container(s) could result in a fee and non-collection due to contamination. If contamination is found, red-orange warning tape (as shownbelow)willbeusedtotapedownthecontainerlid.Afterthefirstwarning,customerswillbecharged a $44.61 contamination fee and the container will not be serviced as recyclable; it will be subsequently serviced as trash. Please note: the contamination fee will be automatically assessed if hazardous or biohazardous materials are placed in any collection container. Not sure about what goes in each container? Electrical Vehicle (EV) Readiness PlanThe City of Rancho Cucamonga is in the process of developing an Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan (Plan). The Plan will be a comprehensive outline of electric vehicle readiness strategies, particularly for workforce and multi-family locations. It will also support regional collaboration for reducing emissions through the adoption of electric vehicles and infrastructure.

The City’s Sustainable Community Action Plan passed in April 2017, serves as a roadmap for sustainability efforts. Healthy RC strives towards a greener, cleaner Rancho Cucamonga by adopting policies and implementing programs and strategies that advance environmental sustainability in the community and in City operations.

The program accepts material from organizations that generate27gallonsor220poundsofhazardouswasteor2.2poundsofextremelyhazardouswastepermonth.

Business can have the waste material picked up for a fee by the program, or schedule an appointment to deliver it themselves totheprogram’smainfacilityinSanBernardino.Disposalcostsvarydependingonthematerial.
