Fabric Requirements • 16" x 16" square Cuddle® 3, for Body• 13" x 13" square Luxe Cuddle®, for Top
Suggested Notions• Embroidery design* - Choose a vertical design between 3" x 5" and 4" x 6"• Stabilizers - Medium-weight, cut away stabilizer [such as: Sulky Cut-Away Plus] - Water soluble stabilizer [such as: Sulky Super Solvy]• Ribbon, 30" (3/4"–11/2" wide)• 90/14 stretch machine needle and polyester thread• Felt tip marker or ballpoint pen• Rotary cutter and mat• Micro-serrated scissors and/or craft knife• Long, flower head pins and/or fabric clips• Basting spray• Walking foot

7. With the bag still inside out, fold the Top down so the hemmed edge is 101/2" from the bottom. Stitch by hand or use the free-arm mode on your machine.
Finishing1. Turn bag right
side out. Fold down the Top to create the cuff.
2. Hand tack cuff on each side to hold it in place.
GENERAL DIRECTIONS• Read Cuddle® Basics before beginning.• All seam allowances are 1/2".
Cutting1. From Cuddle® 3
(Body), cut: • 121/2" x 16" rectangle.
2. From Luxe Cuddle® (Top), cut: • 121/2" x 10" rectangle.
3. From ribbon, cut: • 1 (30") length.
AssemblyAdd the embroidery/appliqué1. On Body fabric, mark 61/2" from
the bottom and 31/2" from the left side for the center point of the embroidery design.
2. Spray baste medium-weight, cut-away stabilizer to the back of the design area.
Note: Do not hoop Cuddle®—hoops may leave permanent marks.
3. Place wash-away stabilizer on the top of the design area.
4. Embroider the design following your machine’s directions.
5. Gently remove the stabilizers.
Create the tote1. With right sides together, sew
lower edge of Top to upper edge of embroidered Body.
Note: Arrange with the naps in the same direction.
2. Fold the ribbon in half. Pin the ribbon 101/2" from the lower edge of the Body with the ribbon fold along the cut edge.
3. With right sides together, fold combined piece in half lengthwise. Double pin the long side and lower edge.
Note: Tuck the ribbon ends in so they don’t get caught in the seam.
4. Sew the side and lower edge, catching the ribbon fold in the seam.
Note: If your ribbon has a wire edge, either remove the wire or sew slowly when sewing over it.
5. Trim both lower corners.
6. With wrong sides together, fold, then sew a 1/2" hem along the upper edge of the Top.

Cuddle® Basics1. Mark measurements on reverse
side of fabric with a felt tip marker or ballpoint pen.
2. Cut with a rotary cutter, craft knife, or micro-serrated scissors.
3. Shake cut pieces or put in a no-heat dryer with a damp wash cloth for a few minutes to remove loose fibers.
4. Sew with polyester thread in the top and the bobbin.
5. Reduce presser foot pressure when sewing multiple layers.
6. Increase stitch length to 3–4 mm.
7. Double pin by using 2 rows of pins—the first row every 1½" along the seam line and a second row 1" to the left and parallel to the cut edge.
8. Backstitch at beginning and end of seams.
9. Seam allowances are ½".
10. Use an even-feed or walking foot, if possible. It makes a difference!
