Facebookhasbeenaroundforafewyears,butonlyrecentlyhasbecomethebiggestandfastestgrowingonlinesocialnetworkingsite.Itwasstartedin2004byaHarvardstudentasawaytoconnectwithclassmatesandsoonexpandedtoopenupitscommunitywithotheruniversitiesintheUnitedStates.Until2006youhadtohaveavalidschoolemailaddresstoevenjoin.Thisrequirementwouldplacemembersinaparticularnetworkforcommunicating.Forexample,astudentatUCBerkeleywouldbeinthenetworkcalledBerkeley.Itwouldthenbesimpletoseewhateventsandactivitiesweregoingoninyourcommunity.In2006Facebookopeneditsdoorstoeveryoneoverthe age of 13. At this point, the site really took off and no longer just focused on the collegecrowd.

AMiniFeedisapersonalfeedthatjustshowsinformationaboutoneperson’sactivities. It shows if anything has changed recently on their profile, if they’ve joined anynewgroupsorcauses,orifthey’veupdatedanycontentoraddednewcontent.ThisiswhatgetspulledintoaNewsFeed.Iftheindividualdoesn’twantanystories




from their Mini Feed available to see, they can choose to remove them from their profile, which removes them from the News Feed as well.
