Please have your junior and sophomores at school at 7:30am that day to participate in these important exams. 2. INTERNET SAFETY: The netsmartz organization will be hosting an assembly for CHS students this spring. Half the student body will attend this assembly March 7, and the other half on April 18. For information on this assembly and internet safety in general go to https://www.netsmartz.org/Educators RECOGNITION: 1. ENGLISH QUEST: Several CHS students earned awards at the recent English Quest event: Auburn Williams, 1st place personal narrative. AJ Adame, 3rd place book cover. Angel Mitchell, 3rd place spelling bee. Jazmyne Olson, 1st place informative speaking. Curtis Self, 1st place poetry slam. Patrick Kilboy and Kaitlyn Thomson, 1st place readers theater. Adam Burt and Carly Wasserlein, 1st place Shakespeare Scene. Holly Porter, 2nd place Editing. Mackenzie Valencia, 2nd place poetry Recitation. 2. SPEECH AND DEBATE NATIONAL QUALIFIER: The CHS Speech and Debate team participated in a national qualifying competition last week. In Dramatic Interp, Aly Hill took 4th and Patrick Kilboy took 2nd and qualifying him for Nationals. In Program Oral Interp, Hyrum Edwards took 6th and Patrick Kilboy again placed, taking 2nd, qualifying him for Nationals in a second event. In Informative Speaking, Jazmyne Olson took 4th place, meaning she, like Aly, is 2 places from qualifying. In National Extemp, Benton Bair took 2nd place and Aly Hill took first place, qualifying both of them to go to Nationals. In Foreign Extemp, Ariel Gonzalez took 2nd place and Curtis Self took 1st place, qualifying both of them to go to Nationals. Overall, CHS took 1st place in Speech Sweeps.
