KENNETH HAHN

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, who has served the na-tion's largest county for a record twenty-seven years, is a native son andamong Pepperdine University's most loyal and distinguished alumni.

Representing the Second District, he serves a constituency of more thanone-and-a-half million people in sixteen cities and communities, makinghis district larger than fifteen individual states in the Union.

Educated in local schools, Dr. Hahn earned his bachelor's degree in1942 from Pepperdine College and returned to the Vermont Avenuecampus four years later as a teacher of American Government. Hereceived a master's degree in education from the University of SouthernCalifornia, and his Pepperdine alma mater awarded him the Doctor ofLaws degree in 1971.

Entering government service in 1947, he became a Los Angeles CityCouncilman and served subsequent terms following re-election in 1949and 1951. He was then elected to the Los Angeles County Board ofSupervisors in November, 1952, and is today honored as its seniormember. Overwhelmingly endorsed by Los Angeles voters for a seventhterm, he holds a record unprecedented in the 127-year history of theCounty.

Kenneth Hahn served in the South Pacific Theater with the UnitedStates Navy during World War II. He is currently chairman of the Boardof Supervisor's Committee on Military and Veterans Af fa i rs in additionto being actively involved in a variety of civic and community projects.

A member of the Church of Christ, Kenneth Hahn and his wife, Ramona,are the parents of two children.
