1 Battery and charger

1.1 Why doesn't the charging icon appear when I charge my HUAWEI MediaPad while it is powered off?

Your HUAWEI MediaPad's system may be unstable when the battery level is extremely low,

because of which the charging icon will not appear but the indicator will turn red. Charge

your HUAWEI MediaPad for a few minutes and check again.

1.2 How do I save battery power? Enable power saving mode. (Not all models support this function.)

On the home screen, touch Settings > Power saving and select a power saving mode.

When your HUAWEI MediaPad is not in use, press the power button to turn off the screen.

Set the screen timeout period to a smaller value.

On the home screen, touch Settings > Display > Sleep and select a shorter timeout period.

Lower the screen brightness.

On the home screen, touch Settings > Display > Brightness, and drag the slider to lower

1.3 What can I do if it takes a long time to charge my HUAWEI MediaPad?

Use the provided charger and do not use your HUAWEI MediaPad while charging it.

1.4 What can I do if I can't charge my HUAWEI MediaPad's battery properly?

If your HUAWEI MediaPad's battery power is depleted, charge your HUAWEI MediaPad for five minutes and check again.

Use the charge that comes with your HUAWEI MediaPad. If the problem persists, reinsert the USB cable, replace the power socket, or restart your HUAWEI MediaPad.

Your HUAWEI MediaPad's temperature may be too high or low while charging.

Your HUAWEI MediaPad comes with a temperature protection design. When your

HUAWEI MediaPad's temperature is too high or low, the charging will stop.

When you are charging your HUAWEI MediaPad, do not perform power-intensive

operations, such as play games, watch videos, or surf the Internet. Otherwise, the charging time will be increased and the battery power may even be reduced.

If the problem persists, contact an authorized Huawei service center or take your HUAWEI

MediaPad and purchase invoice to an authorized Huawei service center.

2.1 How do I take a screenshot?

To take a screenshot, use either of the following methods:

Simultaneously press the power and volume down buttons.

Flick down from the status bar to open the notification panel and touch Screenshot.

2.2 How do I enable or disable auto-rotate screen? Use either of the following methods:

Flick down from the status bar to open the notification panel. Then touch Auto-rotate screen to enable or disable auto-rotate screen.

On the home screen, touch Settings > Display, and touch or toggle the Auto-rotate

screen switch to enable or disable auto-rotate screen.

2.3 What can I do if my HUAWEI MediaPad's touchscreen doesn't work properly after I use it for a long time?

Try the following:

Restart your HUAWEI MediaPad.

Press and hold the power button until a dialog box is displayed. Then touch Restart.

Restore your HUAWEI MediaPad to its factory settings.

On the home screen, touch Settings > Backup & reset and follow the onscreen instructions.

Update your HUAWEI MediaPad.

On the home screen, touch Settings > Updater and follow the onscreen instructions.

If the problem persists, contact an authorized Huawei service center.

3.1 How do I find or change the preferred save location of my photos and videos?

On the viewfinder, touch > Settings to view the default save location of photos and

videos under Preferred save location. To change the default save location, touch Preferred

save location.

If the preferred save location is set to the microSD card, you can view your photos and videos under Files > Local > SD card > DCIM > Camera.

If the preferred save location is set to the internal storage, you can view your photos and videos under Files > Local > Internal storage > DCIM > Camera.

3.2 Can I disable the shutter sound?

No. The shutter sound helps prevent unauthorized use of the camera, such as in cases where:

No permission from the related person has been obtained.

Photo shooting is not allowed.

Photo shooting may involve privacy.

3.3 Can I record my location information to my photos? Yes. To do so:

For the convenience of recording your location, make sure you have an available Internet connection.

3.4 Is there a time limit for video recording? No. The length of a recording is only limited by the available storage space and remaining

battery power on your HUAWEI MediaPad.

3.5 Why can't I open an image, audio clip, or video?

Possible causes are as follows:

Your HUAWEI MediaPad does not support the file format. Supported image formats

include PNG, GIF, JPG, and BMP. Supported video and audio formats include MP3,

WAV, OGG, MID, AMR, MPEG-4, and 3GP. For files in other formats, you may need to

use third-party applications.

The file is corrupted. Download another copy of the file and try opening it again.

The file is copyright-protected. Obtain a non copyright-protected version of the file.

The battery level is low. Connect your phone to a charger and try again.

Your HUAWEI MediaPad is running out of storage space. To check the available storage space, on the home screen, touch Settings > Storage.

In rare instances, an unknown error may have occurred. Restart the applications in question or your HUAWEI MediaPad.

3.6 How do I view the lyrics of a song when the song is playing?

Obtain the lyrics file in .lrc format. Place the lyrics file and the song under the same directory

and make sure their names are the same. When you play the song using the native music

player, the lyrics are displayed.

3.7 Why can't my HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0 play online videos?

Your browser may not support Adobe Flash Player, or the flash player you have installed may

not support the video format. You can try another browser or update your flash player.

3.8 Why is the online video player unexpectedly terminated when I'm watching online videos?

Possible causes are as follows:

Your network connection is not working properly.

Make sure you have Internet access or restart your HUAWEI MediaPad.

The online video player is incompatible with your HUAWEI MediaPad.

You can try using another online video player.

3.9 How do I search for a video? Try either of the following steps:

On the home screen, touch Gallery, and look for the video.

On the home screen, touch Files, and search for the video under the video category.

3.10 When I play music or videos on my HUAWEI MediaPad, will the playback continue if the screen is turned off?

Video playback is paused when your HUAWEI MediaPad's screen is turned off. After the

screen is turned back on, you can continue to watch the video from where it is paused.

Audio continues to play even when your HUAWEI MediaPad's screen is turned off.

3.11 Why can't my HUAWEI MediaPad play online music or video smoothly?

Possible causes are as follows:

Your network connection is not working properly.

Make sure you have Internet access or restart your HUAWEI MediaPad.

Your HUAWEI MediaPad is running out of storage space.

Clear cache or unwanted files to free up some storage space.

The online music or video server is busy.

Try another website or wait for while and try again.

3.12 Can I scan a QR code or bar code using my HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0?

T1-701u、T1-702u、T1-701w、T1-701g can't support scannning QR code or bar code, whereas

the T1-701ua can support scannning QR code or bar code.

4.1 Does my HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0 support text and multimedia messaging?

The 3G versions support text and multimedia messaging; however, the Wi-Fi only version

does not.

4.2 How do I send messages to multiple recipients?

1. On the home screen, touch Messaging > .

2. Use either of the following methods to add multiple recipients:

− Touch the recipient text box to enter the recipient phone numbers. Use semicolons (;) to separate the phone numbers.

− Touch to the right of the recipient text box and select the contacts to whom you

want to send the message.

4.3 How do I attach files to a multimedia message? Is there any restriction on the attachment size?

When writing a message, touch , select an attachment type, and follow the onscreen

instructions to add the attachment.

If an audio or video file exceeds 300 KB, it cannot be attached to a multimedia message. If an

image is too large, it will be automatically compressed before being attached to the message.

As a result, the resolution of the image attached to the message decreases.

4.4 Why can't I send or receive multimedia messages? Possible causes and solutions are as follows:

The network condition or signal reception is poor. Try again later.

The network is busy. Try again later.

The data service is turned off. Turn it on and try again.

The recipient number is invalid. Check that the recipient number is correct and try again.

The multimedia message size exceeds 300 KB. Delete some contents from the message to make sure it is within 300 KB and try again.

Your account balance is insufficient. Top up your account and try again.

Your HUAWEI MediaPad is running out of available storage space. Delete some files to have at least 300 KB storage space.

4.5 How do I delete messages? Deleting multiple or all conversations

On the messaging screen, touch > Delete, select the conversations you want to

delete, and touch .

4.6 What can I do if I can't use a newly installed text input method?

1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Language & input and select the text input method.

4.7 Can I set more than one email account on my HUAWEI MediaPad?

Yes.

If you have not set any email accounts on your HUAWEI MediaPad, on the home screen, touch Email and follow the onscreen instructions to set your email account.

If you have set an email account, touch Email > > Settings > and follow the

onscreen instructions to add an email account.

4.8 How do I attach attachments to an email? Is there any restriction on the attachment size?

When writing an email, touch to add an attachment.

The size of a single attachment must not exceed 5 MB.

Different email servers support different sizes of attachments. If the size of attachments exceeds the size allowed by the receiving email server, the email may fail to be sent.

4.9 What types of files can I attach to an email? The following types of files can be attached to an email:

Text: plain text, vCalendar, and vCard

Image: JPEG, GIF, BMP, WBMP, PNG, and TIFF

Audio: MP3, WMA, FLAC, WAV, OGG, MIDI, and 3GP

Video: MP4, 3GP, 3G2, RM, RMVB, TS, MOV, AVI, MKV, and FLV

4.10 How often does my email refresh? Will I be informed of new emails?

When setting your email for the first time, you will be asked to set how often your email

refreshes.

To view or modify the refresh interval:

1. On the home screen, touch Email > > Settings.

2. Touch an email account, choose Sync schedule.

If new emails are received, your HUAWEI MediaPad will display a new email icon in the

status bar.

The 3G and versions support voice calls; however, the Wi-Fi only version does not

5.4 How do I import contacts? You can import contacts using any of the following methods:

If the contacts are saved in Google or other email accounts, synchronize the contacts to your HUAWEI MediaPad.

1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Accounts > Add account.

2. Follow the onscreen instructions to add the email account where the contacts are saved to

your HUAWEI MediaPad. After the account is added, the contacts are automatically

synchronized to your HUAWEI MediaPad.

If the contacts are saved in a microSD card–capable device, use a microSD to import the contacts.

1. Insert a microSD card into the device and export the contacts from the device to the microSD card.

2. Insert the microSD card into your HUAWEI MediaPad.

3. On the home screen, touch Contacts.

4. Touch > Import/Export.

6.1 How do I know whether my HUAWEI MediaPad is using its mobile data or Wi-Fi connection to access the Internet?

Once connected to a Wi-Fi network, your HUAWEI MediaPad uses its Wi-Fi connection to

access the Internet. Your HUAWEI MediaPad's mobile data will be used only when no Wi-Fi

networks are available. If is displayed in the status bar, your HUAWEI MediaPad is

using its Wi-Fi connection to access the Internet.

6.2 Can I set a static IP address for my HUAWEI MediaPad to connect to a Wi-Fi network?

Yes. To set a static IP address:

1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi-Fi.

2. Touch or toggle the Wi-Fi switch to to turn on Wi-Fi.

3. Touch the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.

4. In the displayed dialog box, select Show advanced options, set IP settings to Static, and fill in IP address, Gateway, and DNS.

6.3 How do I check the mobile data connection status? Flick down from the status bar to open the notification panel, and then check whether the data

6.4 Can I use my HUAWEI MediaPad as a Wi-Fi hotspot? Yes if your HUAWEI MediaPad supports mobile data.

To use your HUAWEI MediaPad's Wi-Fi hotspot function, turn on your HUAWEI MediaPad's

mobile data. When other devices access the Internet using your HUAWEI MediaPad's data

connection, the data usage of your HUAWEI MediaPad will be consumed. To use your

HUAWEI MediaPad as a Wi-Fi hotspot:

1. On the home screen, touch Settings.

2. Under WIRELESS & NETWORKS, touch More > Tethering & portable hotspot >

Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

After the Wi-Fi hotspot settings are set, other Wi-Fi enabled devices can search for and

connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot provided by your HUAWEI MediaPad.

6.5 Does my HUAWEI MediaPad support Wi-Fi Direct? Yes.

To use Wi-Fi Direct:

1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi-Fi.

2. Touch or toggle the Wi-Fi switch to to turn on Wi-Fi.

3. Touch . On the other device, turn on Wi-Fi Direct. Your HUAWEI MediaPad then

automatically searches for nearby devices.

4. Touch the other device to pair your HUAWEI MediaPad with it.

Wi-Fi Direct enabled devices that are connected to the same Wi-Fi network can share files with each other without manual settings. (This policy may not apply to non-Huawei devices.)

6.6 Why can't my HUAWEI MediaPad connect to a Wi-Fi network?

Make sure your HUAWEI MediaPad is in a place with good reception, and you have entered

the correct casings for the password.

If you are connecting to the Wi-Fi network through a router, make sure the router is

functioning properly.

6.7 Why does the Wi-Fi connection sometimes become unavailable when I am sending files through Bluetooth?

The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functions share one antenna. When the Bluetooth occupancy is high,

the Wi-Fi performance is affected and the Wi-Fi connection may become unavailable.

6.8 With Wi-Fi turned on, why is my HUAWEI MediaPad's power consumption high even when no networks are found?

By default, your HUAWEI MediaPad's Wi-Fi never goes to sleep and the Wi-Fi chip keeps

working even when there are no available networks, resulting in high power consumption.

The Wi-Fi chip will not stop searching and power off until your HUAWEI MediaPad's screen

is turned off for more than 10 minutes.

To save battery power, turn Wi-Fi off when there are no Wi-Fi networks available.

6.9 What can I do if I can't find any available Wi-Fi networks after Wi-Fi is turned on?

Try the following:

Restart the Wi-Fi hotspot device, such as your wireless router.

Your HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0 can function as a USB host. You can connect it to a USB

MediaPad will not be erased.

Performing the online update on your HUAWEI MediaPad will not erase your data. For

To avoid data loss, it is recommended that you back up important data before updating your

12.1 How do I install a SIM card and a microSD card to my HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0?

The HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0 of the Wi-Fi only version does not support SIM cards.

Method 1:

1. Open the card slot cover.

2. Insert and press the microSD card into the card tray with the golden contacts on the card

facing upward. Then check that the microSD card is completely inserted.

3. Insert and press the SIM card into the card tray with the golden contacts on the card facing upward. Then check that the SIM card is completely inserted.

Your HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0 supports standard micro-SIM cards. The dimensions of a standard

micro-SIM card are 15 mm x 12 mm x 0.76 mm (0.59 in. x 0.47 in. x 0.03 in.). Do not insert a SIM card in other dimensions as doing so may damage your HUAWEI MediaPad T1 7.0.
