Your FastChek Pro® Test Strip Reader

FastChek Pro is a platform water analysis system that will provide accurate, reliable test results in just a matter of seconds. The system uses proven medical technology to read FastChek Pro Test Strips from the makers of AquaChek®, the world’s number one brand of pool and spa test strips for over 30 years. The test strips are measured by reflectance technology, which has long been utilized in the medical field for a quick and accurate analysis of blood and urine samples. In reflectance technology, the instrument converts color reflected from test strip pads into informa-tion about the properties of a sample that has been measured with the test pad chemistry.

The FastChek Pro software uses the test results to create a custom prescription for your custom-er. The prescription is easily adapted to fit the chemical program and treatment plan for any user of the system.

FastChek Pro provides a complete prescription for your pool and/or spa customer in about 2 minutes. This includes the analysis of 6 key chemical parameters (free chlorine, total chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness and cyanuric acid). Other troubleshooting tests are also avail-able to help you diagnose even the most difficult water problems.

The FastChek Pro system uses low cost test strips as part of the analysis system; tests can be done at a fraction of the price of typical dealer test systems.

In the chemical sets screen choose the “add” button.

Name the set according to your preferences and then select the chemicals that you want to be a part of the set.

You must then choose “save” in order for the changes to take effect.

You may also modify or delete chemical sets by selecting the “modify” or “delete” buttons on the chemical sets page.

11. Chemical EditorThis function allows you to add, modify or delete individual chemicals. New chemicals must be added here in order to be available in the chemical sets and customer pages.

Hach Company provides generic chemicals for your convenience. These chemicals can be modified or deleted if you choose to do so. If a chemical is associated with a chemical set, you will be alerted to the relationship.

Addinganewchemical:

Adding a new chemical is done by selecting the “add” button on the chemical editor page.

For example, we will show you how to add a new FastChek brand (fictional brand) sodium hypochlorite sanitizer.

Choose the chemical category of sanitizer. You may also select the generic sodium hypochlorite, which will provide you with dosage information that is already loaded. Then choose the “add” button. By selecting the already existing chemical, the dosage information loads and can be used or modified. This is an optional step.

Then adjust the chemical dosage according to the information on the packaging for that specific chemical. It is recommended that you use the most common dosage in the chemical editor.

For example, FastChek brand sodium hypochlorite may have dosages in fluid ounces, cups and gallons. If however, most of the dosages you prescribe are of the gallon size, use this dosage in your chemical editor.

17

Page 19: FastChek Pro - AquaChekfrancais.aquachek.com/retailers/documents/FastChek_Manual_FINAL.pdf · The power light on the meter should turn green. Your FastChek Pro software will also

FastChek sodium hypochlorite calls for adding 1 gallon of product for every 10,000 gallons in order to raise the chlorine level by 2 ppm. Therefore the chemical gets added as shown:

The dosage limit and use time in hours should be 0 and 24 hours if there is no dosage limit on the product packaging as shown.

If however, the product’s label specified that you should not add more than 4 gallons at a time in 4 hours intervals, you would change the dosage limit to 4 and unit time in hours to 4.

Neutralizer Ratio:This can be used if you are adding an acidic or basic chemical that needs to be counteracted by the addition of another opposite chemical. There are only 2 choices available.

For example, FastChek sodium hypochlorite has a very basic pH and therefore, I would like my customerstoaddasmalldoseofdryacid(sodiumbisulfate)inordertooffsetthepHchangecreatedwith the addition of the sodium hypochlorite. I will recommend a dosage of 1 oz. of muriatic acid per gallon of sodium hypochlorite and this can be added as shown on the next page:

ImportantReminder:These chemical settings are used to create prescriptions for your customer. If the chemical editor does not contain the accurate chemical and dosage information, the prescriptions using these chemicals will likewise be inaccurate.

12. Test Standard EditorThis function allows you to add, modify or delete test standards. You can adjust the ideal range, minimum and maximum levels for any chemistry here.

MinimumandMaximum – these are the acceptable operational ranges for the specific parameter.

IdealMinimumandMaximum – these are the levels at which your chemical prescription will adjust. For example, if you set an ideal maximum pH of 7.6, the prescription calculator will prescribe a chemical quantitytoobtainanadjustmentofthewaterto7.6whenthepHisdeterminedtobehigh(abovethemaximumlevel.)

1. Test Manager (F1)This function allows you to set up and run in-store tests. It offers the feature of doing a new test for a customeralreadylistedinthedatabase(youcanalsocreateanewcustomerprofilefromthisscreen)orcompleting a walk-in test which allows you to proceed without entering a customer’s name, address, etc.

ImportantNote: When you run a walk-in test, the test results will be saved in the Test Manager screen. Test results will not be accessible in the Customer Manager function.

ImportantNote:Be sure to calibrate the meter once daily with the all white calibration strip. This must be done by someone with admin level access.

Running a TestSearch for the customer for whom you are running a test by entering their first or last name, address or phone number in the customer field and choosing the search button as shown.

Note:You will need to enter a new customer from this screen by selecting the new customer button next to the search button.

You will need to also make general observations about this customer’s water sample at this time using the drop down menus in the bottom portion of the customer screen titled “Current Observations for Customer Pool/Spa.” This information will print out on the report.

20

Page 22: FastChek Pro - AquaChekfrancais.aquachek.com/retailers/documents/FastChek_Manual_FINAL.pdf · The power light on the meter should turn green. Your FastChek Pro software will also

Once the customer has been selected and any observations noted, you will need to create the test you are running by selecting the box next to each test strip that will be run for this customer. Each strip will show up as a separate test in the test manager as it is not possible to run more than one strip at a time. Then choose the “Generate Test Request” button and you will get a message alerting you that a new test has been added successfully if the appropriate information has been entered.

You will also have the option of printing a report for the customer alerting them to their test status as seen on this pop up screen. This option is available to keep track of pending tests if there is an interruption in testing or a need to have a tracking of the timing of testing, etc. It allows you to enter in a test and then do the testing later. Pressing “No” takes you to the “Test Manager Screen.”

The customer test request will then show up in the test manager in bold and the pending test will show up below the customer in plain text. Both will be shown in red until a test has been completed as shown here:

HelpfulHint: The Test Manager automatically shows the test history only for the current calendar month. To view older tests, change the start and end dates at the top of the screen.

Analyzing a Test StripOnce you have selected the “run test” button for either an existing customer or a walk-in, you will get the run test screen. You will activate the analysis by choosing the “next” button on this pop-up screen.

BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AND USE A FRESH WATER SAMPLE FOR EACH TYPE OF TEST STRIP. Following the procedures is critical to getting reliable and accurate test results. There are different activation procedures for each of the strip types. Dipping more than one test strip in a small water sample size (about 1/2 cup) can cause inaccurate test results.

CLEAN TEST STRIP CHANNEL ON METER WITH LAB WIPE AND CLEANING TOOL BEFORE RUNNING EACH TEST STRIP. Any residue on the channel can interfere with test strip readings and cause inaccurate test results.

Getting the PrescriptionOnce a test has been completed successfully, you will get a results screen that will ask you if you want to add the results to the database. This is essential in order to create a prescription. If you choose “no” when asked to add the test results to the database, no data will be saved and a new test will need to be run in order to generate a prescription.

Inside the test manager, completed tests will now show up in green.

DOUBLE CLICK ON THE CUSTOMER FILE IN ORDER TO VIEW TEST RESULTS SUMMARY AND TO CREATE A PRESCRIPTION.

Note:You cannot click on individual tests in order to view prescriptions as more than one test may be available per customer.

TO GET THE PRESCRIPTION, double click on the customer file [in bold font]

The test results page will show up with the test results listed. These results can be adjusted at this time, if necessary. This is also when you can add other test results such as salt or phosphate so they appear in the prescription. To do this, click on “Add Chemical.”

To view the prescription, you will need to click on the “Report” button. This will take you to the prescription and treatment information.

Note:If you change the results on the Test Results Screen, this will be reflected in the prescription.

In the mailing list window, you can build your mailing list by checking the boxes next to the specific parameters available. For example, if you select the box next to “In-Ground Vinyl,” each of the customers that have an in-ground vinyl pool will be added to the mailing list. You may select just one parameter, or as many as you like. You can also narrow the mailing list by choosing to select customers who have had a test completed in a particular time frame by using the selection tool in the bottom right corner shown as “customers who have had” and “test performed.”

Once you have selected the parameters you wish to use, click the “view” button to view the mailing list. Once you have opened this list, there is also an option to export the list to an excel document.
