Pastor’s Pen What makes a church a true ―New Testament‖ church? We read the account of the early church in the book of Acts and in chapter 2 we see this description of the beginnings: ―they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.‖ (Acts 2:42, NKJV) Bible study, fellowship, the Lord’s Supper, and prayers were evident in the life of the early church. As the account of the church continues in Acts we see the church at Antioch modeling direct mission involvement. In Acts 13:2-3 we read ―As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now sep-arate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.‖ For many, many years First Baptist Church, Blanchard, has been involved in ―sending them out.‖ Through contributions to the Cooperative Program thousands of international and North American missionaries have shared the gospel with a needy world. Through our Faith Promise Offering we support missions in our community, nation and world. Over the years mission trips and direct mission support have been a mainstay at First Baptist Blanchard. So, let’s ask ourselves ―what’s next?‖ In terms of direct mission support, this year brings opportunities to help build churches in Romania and Belize. We will continue to support the church plant in Aurora, Colorado. Locally, our mission efforts through The Orchard, Cross Brand Cowboy Church, Lydia sewing ministry, Project Linus, Chainsaw Ministry, Soup for Seniors, Pacesetters, Soles for Souls and others will continue. But here is something not to be overlooked: are we ready for the other ―great and mighty things‖ that God has planned? What if God is raising someone up within our church to go out and share the gospel as full-time missionaries? What if God wants First Baptist Blanchard to step out in faith and plant a church where none exists? What if He brings our way opportunities to act in faith to bring Him glory. My advice, which I take from God’s Word, is ―CHURCH, BE READY!!!‖ Keep the faith. Blessings,

‘they continued steadfastly in the

apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in

the breaking of bread, and in pray-

ers.” Acts 2:42

NEW PICTORIAL CHURCH DIRECTORIES– The estimated ship date for our new church directories is January 30. Each family that was photographed for the directory (as well as those who submitted photos) will receive a free copy of the directory. Watch for further details regarding the arrival of our new directories.

125TH ANNIVERSARY DIRECTORIES– With the anticipated arrival of our 2014 pictorial directory drawing near, we would like to make available a limited number of copies of our 2010 pictorial directory. This special 125th anniversary edition, which includes a brief history of our church, along with some historic photographs of earlier church buildings, is one that many of us will want to keep for years to come. If you do not already have a copy of it or would like an extra copy, we will make them available for

just $7.00 each for as long as they last. Please see me or contact the church office if you are interested in purchasing a copy while they are still available. (Please note also that copies of our new 2014 church directory will NOT be available for sale.)

Cross Brand Cowboy Church Howdy Folks, Hopefully we are settled in to the New Year by now. January has been a tough time for a lot of us because of the respiratory problems being ―shared‖ by everyone. Prayerfully February will be better!! Hope everyone can get well and stay well. Please mark your calendar for our annual CROSS BRAND COWBOY CHURCH ―FUN FEST‖ from noon til 4:00 pm on March 22nd. We will be sharing more about this in the March Lifeline. But as of now I can tell you that we will begin with lunch at noon provided by our own CHUCK WAGON CREW followed by several events including but not limited to horseback rides for ALL ages!! We are urging everyone at Cross Brand Cowboy Church as well as everyone at FBCB to come and invite everyone you know!! Let’s pledge together to make this the biggest and best outreach event we’ve ever had. Together we can make this happen!!! Don’t forget that February 13th is our Pot Luck Supper. Please plan to attend all of the Thursday night services; if you don’t, you never know what you might miss!! Looking forward to seeing you there!!

The Sanctuary Choir Thanks to everyone who came to support the Voices of Praise at Price

Harris’ Night of Praise last month. It was such a blessing and an honor to

be asked to be a part of the evening’s music. The choir did a wonderful job

and I know that God was glorified through the music.

The “sanctuary choir” is sadly becoming less and less visible in some of

today’s churches as more and more move away from choir programs

toward ensembles and praise teams. No matter the style, though, I believe a

sanctuary choir can be a vital part of corporate worship and I am so

thankful for our choir members and their willingness to give their time for

rehearsal each week. I am also encouraged by the fact that we have a

number of our senior high and college students who enjoy singing with us

“old folks.”

We would love to have you start 2014 as a new (or returning) member of

the Voices of Praise. We are working on new music right now so it’s the

perfect time to join. Not sure? Give us a try. Join us at 7:30pm this

Wednesday night and see what it’s all about.

Belize 2014 We have 30 members going to Belize this summer to finish the church

construction costs. Our construction goal is $10,000.00. If you would like

to make a donation to help with the construction of the building please

mark your donation “Belize building fund.” Below are some suggestions:

What is sin?

How does God feel about sin?

Who sins?

What happens when we sin?

Will God forgive us when we sin?

These are just a few of the questions we will be answering in

Sunday school this month as we study the exile of Judah.

Wednesday Prayer Service 6:30 p.m.

“What does it mean to be saved?” For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10 Sin separates us from God. God offers forgiveness through belief in the life, death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Accepting God’s offer of salvation means we are saved from an eternity separated from God. Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

Well I hope everyone is feeling a little better from all the respiratory problems that have been going around. Just want to remind you that right now visitation is every 2nd Tuesday of the month. This month it is on the 11th. I am there in the Multi-purpose building by 3:00pm and you may pick up some info and decide who you would like to visit anytime between 3:00 and 6:00 pm. I’m trying to make the time a little bit more flexible in hopes it will enable more folks to visit. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have a question or if there is someone you would like to have visited. Hope to see you at visitation.
