EXECUTIVE BOARD

Friday, February 6th - 5:30 p.m.

TREASURER’S REPORTBy Tammy Coghill

December 31 marked the halfway point for PTA’s fiscal year. Based on our current income and expenses we are still right on track with our budget. We have our final scheduled Fundraiser coming up in March. Make sure to check out the details for the Las Vegas style casino night auction...tickets are already on sale!

As of our December Executive Meeting, total YTD expenses are $20,043 while total YTD income is $39,141. Major expenses that have occurred since our last newsletter include $1,636 for 5th grade shirts (offset 100% by income for sale of the shirts), $533 for K-3 Movie Night (offset by $482 in ticket sales), $571 in Classroom Enrichment to the teachers and $377 in Communications/Copies cost for newsletter printing. The significant sources of income since our last newsletter include $266 from

eScrip and $156 from Flyer Nights. We are excited about the financial status of your PTA so far this year and we are excited about the 2nd half of our fiscal year. With our upcoming 1st annual Auction Fundraiser and several Community events still to come (including the Father Daughter Dance and Mother and Son activity), your continued support is appreciated and extremely valuable to the many programs your PTA continues to provide. Thank you!

An allergic reaction to food can affect the skin, the gastrointestinal tract, the respiratory tract, and, in the most serious cases, the cardiovascular system.

The most common food allergy signs and symptoms include:• Tingling or itching in the mouth• Hives, itching or eczema• Swelling of the lips, face, tongue

and throat or other parts of the body

• Wheezing, nasal congestion or trouble breathing

• Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting

• Dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting

In some people, a food allergy can trigger a severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. This can cause

WOULD YOU KNOW IF SOMEONE WAS HAVING AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO A FOOD???

life-threatening signs and symptoms, including:• Constriction and tightening of

airways• A swollen throat or the sensation of

a lump in your throat that makes it difficult to breathe

• Shock with a severe drop in blood pressure

• Rapid pulse• Dizziness, lightheadedness or loss

of consciousness

Emergency treatment is critical for anaphylaxis and the most effective treatment for an anaphylactic reaction is epinephrine (epi-pen or Auvi-Q device). A delay in treatment and anaphylaxis can cause a coma or even death. For additional information, go to www.foodallergy.org/symptoms.

Get those Box Tops into your student’s teacher for the final competitive collection of this school year! So far this year, Coyote Ridge parents and staff have raised $1856.90 through our Box Top submissions.

Our goal is $3,000, so let’s get all of those Box Tops turned in. Check your pantry and drawers for Box Tops that are still on the packages!

Box Tops is running a promotion right now where specially marked packages contain an entry code. You can enter the code online for a chance to win 1 million Box Tops! If you don’t want to enter the codes yourself, feel free to turn them into your student’s teacher and our coordinators will enter the code on behalf of Coyote Ridge. Box Tops runs coupons and other promotions on their website, www.boxtops4education.com.

We will have one final Box Tops collection at the end of the school year, so please continue to collect your Box Tops. You can send them in on a submission form or in a baggie.

Thank you to all who participated in our Easy Money eScrip contest in December! The winner of the $50 Safeway gift card was LISA BOTWINIK! Students in grades first through fifth are eligible to participate. It will take place during lunch in the VAPA (Visual & Performing Arts) Room. Please have your child bring their books to trade to school on that day. Teachers will hand out tickets for the exchange.

We are also in need of volunteers for this program. Please contact Sherry Riley at [email protected] with donations or to volunteer.
