Shinto

The Shinto religion involves nature worship, believing that spirits, or kami, are everywhere in nature.

Buddhism

Zen Buddhism was brought to Japan from China. Samurai warriors were drawn to Zen Buddhism. Meditation and “being present” were appealing to the samurai worldview.
