The awards were founded in 2005 by members of Stadium Experience to reward the hard work and determination behind the scenes at our stadia. So much more goes into making a matchday or an event happen than the visitors would ever realise, it’s not just about the players and the press being ready or getting to the venue on time for your conference, there is a huge commitment at every stadia behind the scenes to make every event happen. From Kitchen Porters to Operations Directors, everyone has a role to play and in most cases in the sporting industry the catering team aren’t always the first to receive praise.

Taking part in the Football Hospitality Awards is your clubs opportunity to shout about your achievements, thank your event and catering staff and be proud of your work in the 2012 – 2013 season.

The Football Hospitality Awards Ceremony hosted by Paul Bunker will take place on Thursday 23rd May 2013 at a gala dinner celebration with live music and an after party.

Review of 2012

The 2012 Awards were kindly hosted by Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club at the new American Express Community Stadium, 300 guests attended, the Executive Head Chef Neil Paton created a wonderful four course menu and guests had a thoroughly fabulous evening. The compere Paul Bunker welcomed on stage football players, Michael Kuipers, Ian Taylor and Michael Johnson to present the awards.

Matchday Experience Award – Overall Winner

The above categories are judged by Salon Culinaire chefs. To enter you

are required to provide 2 hospitality tickets to a match of your choice

at which a Salon Culinaire judge and guest will attend and experience

the entire hospitality experience. You are requested to provide two

tickets in a suite which is not exclusive, ie can be purchased by corporate

clients or members of the public. The judge will complete a full report of

which you will receive a copy after the awards ceremony. There will be

a winner in each league in 2013, and an overall winner of this category

based on points awarded by the judges.

The above categories are voted for by the Directors at each club.

A nomination form is posted and emailed to every Club Secretary

(or equivalent) asking them to nominate the club where they had

the best away experience when travelling with their team. They are

specifically asked to consider the welcome, service and catering.

Media Choice Award

This category is voted for by national and local media about their

experience when they arrive at your club on a matchday.

Is the service and food good? These reporters are influential and

often write about food in their matchday reports. Nomination

forms are available for your media team to distribute on matchdays.

In 2013 the Football Hospitality Awards will be developed further with the introduction of some new awards, the categories for 2013 will be:



Who can get involved?These awards are open to the following two categories:

Open to ALL Football Clubs & National Stadia

Open to members of Stadium Experience ONLY

Chef Team of the Year sponsored by Salon Culinaire This award is judged as part of the live kitchen theatre event sponsored by Salon Culinaire and Major International which takes place at Hospitality 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham, 21st-23rd January 2013. There is a small administration fee to enter this award of £30 and entitles you to enter a team of two chefs into the live competition. To enter call Peter Griffiths on 07778 311522 or email [email protected]. Closing date for entering this category is 1st December 2012.

Conference & Events Sales & Marketing Award Judged by BDRC Continental, on a mystery shopper style basis, a sales call will be made to your club, recorded and marked with a full report available afterwards. Some clubs already subscribe to BDRC Continental and find their feedback on sales very useful for team development and training. There is a small administration fee to all clubs who would like to enter this award of £75 (this also applies if you already subscribe to their services as a totally separate mystery call will be made specifically for the purpose of this award).

Special Achievement Award Nominations for this award can be made by anyone. Nominations must be for a person or team currently employed at a stadia venue in the UK or Ireland. Previous nominees have included a tour guide whose commitment to his club spanned fifty years, a Sales Manager committed to the success of an event, and a team responsible for overseeing a new product launch, creating unexpected income for their club. This award will be judged by The Stadium Experience Leadership Team.

Star For The Future Award We all work with shining stars each and every day. This award is for the colleague that will one day be managing their own team in their department. This can be a Chef de Partie that will make a great Head Chef, a Sales Co-ordinator that will be a great Sales Manager, a Duty Manager that will be a great General Manager and so on. Get thinking, we all know someone that deserves this award! This award will be judged by the Stadium Experience Leadership Team.

The Green Hospitality Award for Environmental Best Practice

In a world where we are working harder to be kinder to the

environment, our clients are keener to know how we are making

a difference, this can be recycling, power saving, using local

produce and much more, you are invited to demonstrate just how

environmentally friendly your club is. The Green Award will be

awarded to a club that has implemented new green initiatives or

made significant improvements within the last 18 months. This award will be judged by the Stadium Experience Leadership Team.

The Fans Choice Award Is voted for on line at www.facebook.com/TheFootballPieLeague and is awarded to the Football Club with the most votes from their loyal fans. The terms and conditions, and rules of the Fans Choice category can be viewed on the Facebook page or requested from [email protected]. The closing date of this category is Sunday 19th May 2013.

Category: Matchday Hospitality Award

Criteria: You will be judged on the entire matchday experience, including efficiency pre-match, professionalism and customer service on the day with the main focus being on the catering and service experience. To be considered for judging you will need to provide 2 places in hospitality at a match of your choice (ideally a Saturday and must be before 20th April 2013), with parking, in a suite which is not exclusive and is available for purchase by your corporate clients. Physical tickets must be sent to the Stadium Experience Office which will be sent onto the judge 10 days prior to the match experience with the relevant judging report pack.

You will know in advance which independent judge will be attending. The judge will have a strict criteria marking pack with them, which has been developed by Salon Culinaire with the assistance of the Stadium Experience Leadership Team.
