Which of the three shows you a better
picture?
The picture taken by Famous photographer Mr.DeVera is a
better picture because it is in good quality, and is an actual picture instead of a drawn picture which
could be slightly inaccurate.
Blue Green Algae THIS SPECIMEN SHOWS STRINGS OF
YELLOW ALGAE IN THE TOP PORTION, AND IN THE BOTTOM PORTION IS A BLUE ROCK
LIKE PART OF ALGAE. THE MAGNIFICATIONS IN BOTH THE
PICTURE AND THE DRAWING ARE THE 10X
Blue Green AlgaeTHE BLUE GREEN ALGAE PICTURE ON THE LEFT
IS 10X MAGNIFIED WHERE AS THE ONLINE PICTURE ON THE RIGHT IS BELIEVED TO BE 100X
MAGNIFIED OF THE BLUE ALGAE SUBSTANCE ON THE BOTTOM.
Blue Green AlgaeTHE PICTURE ON THE LEFT IS 100X
MAGNIFIED OF THE BLUE ROCK ALGAE, AND THE PICTURE ON THE RIGHT IS 10X MAGNIFIED OF THE
ACTUAL SPECIMEN.
Paramecium CaudatumTHERE ARE MORE SPECIMENS IN THE
PICTURE THEN THERE ARE IN THE DRAWING, THE PICTURE’S SPECIMEN HAVE A REDDISH COLOR. THE MAGNIFICATIONS IN ALL THE PICTURES AND DRAWINGS ARE
10X.
THE PICTURE FROM THE WEBSITE HAS ABOUT THE SAME NUMBER OF SPECIMENS AS THE PICTURE, AND HAS A BLUISH COLOR. THE SPECIMENS ARE ABOUT THE SAME SIZE.
THE PICTURE FROM THE WEBSITE (LEFT) HAS MANY LESS SPECIMENS THAN THE
ONLINE PICTURE (RIGHT), AND THE TWO SPECIMENS ARE DIFFERENT COLORS. THE
PICTURE FROM THE WEBSITE LOOKS MORE ROUNDED WHILE THE REDDER SPECIMEN HAS MORE SHARP EDGES.
Both pictures exhibit hair like appendages. They are both brown and have eyes and a
mouth. Both pictures are magnified at 10x.
Anopheles Larva
Both pictures of the larva display many hairs coming out of both of its sides.
They both seem to have mouth and eyes. The one on the left is yellow with some black but, the one on the right is brown.
The Larva on the left has a higher magnification than the one on the
right. Some differences between the pictures are the larva’s color and the
one on the right is transparent.
What did you learn about microscopes?
We learned that microscopes revolutionized cell study and
deepened understanding of the makeup of an organism. We
also learned that microscopes magnifications can be adjusted to study different parts of cells.
What other extra information did you gain because of this
lab? From this lab, we learned that
something as small as a cell can have complicated makeups and so many details even though they are some of the smallest things in our
world.
How could this lab have ben made
better?This lab could have
been made better by having more time to
analysis the specimens in class and having a
wider variety of specimen to choose
from.
