This coming Saturday, our son Tyler will marry his fiancé April Woolard. We are so delighted to welcome April to our family and celebrate this moment with them. Many of you have been so kind in congratulating them and offering your prayers to them as they begin life together. Like so many in our congregation, this year our family is celebrating another life marker with the marriage of a child. What makes our celebration richer is being able to share in this moment with our church. As I have thought about Tyler’s wedding, I have been reminded about how many significant moments the Roberts’ family has shared with our loving church family. Although we were away from you for 10 years, our children were born when we were at Trinity in the late 1980s. Many of you helped us welcome Tyler and Jordan into this world. Some of you were even at the hospital and in the delivery room when Tyler was born. You were his grandparents and aunts and uncles when our own family was far away. Some of you who are now parents were his first babysitters as a Youth Minister is never in lack when it comes to babysitters. Some of you were our encouragers and mentors teaching us how to parent. Still so many of you taught our children when they were young, which we know, is one of the most important formation moments.
When we returned to Trinity, you were there to welcome us and our now Middle School and Elementary School aged children. You taught them and modeled for them what it means to follow Christ. You were there with us during the sickness and deaths of parents. You shared with us graduations and other significant moments.
Now as our family has another life marker, you are with us in this moment of rejoicing. This is true not only for our family, but for many families in our church. Many of you could give this same testimony of what it means to share life with a community of faith. In a culture where people come and go, chase the next best thing, and are seemingly always looking for the greener grass, there are still those

who know what it means to commit to live life in community together. For those of you who we have shared so many moments with, I want to say thank you. For those who are new to our congregation, I want to encourage you to give of yourself and in doing so you will receive the blessing I have been sharing.
I hope you will join with me in praying not just for Tyler and April, but also for all of the young couples in our church who are committing their lives to each other and to God, as well as to sharing life with us at Trinity.
As your pastor, and on behalf of Robin and our whole family, I want to say thank you for being Christ to us over and over again. I rejoice in my every remembrance of you.Summer

D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944
Tuesday, July 15 • 9:00 am-2:00 pmIMAX Theatre Downtown • Lunch: Big Ed’s
Cost: $6 admission plus lunch
Seventy years ago, a historic landing changed the world. June 6, 1944: The largest Allied operation of World War II began in Normandy, France. Few know in detail exactly why and how, from the end of 1943 through August 1944, this region became the most important location in the world. D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944 brings this monumental event to the world’s largest screens for the first time ever. This 43 minute documentary will show you in breathtaking IMAX® 3D how this landing changed the world by exploring history, military strategy, science, technology and human values. Narrated by Tom Brokaw, D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944 pays tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedom... A duty of memory, a duty of gratitude!
After the documentary, we’ll go over to Big Ed’s for lunch.
Join us for this exciting event! Sign-up in the Senior Corner at the end of the B- If you have questions, call Kathy Driver at 919-621-0236.

Mills Home for Children, Thomasville
Tuesday, June 10 • 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
Cost: $15 for admission, train ride and gas, plus meals: fast food breakfast, lunch at
Hendrix BBQ, dinner at K&W
Limited to 30 Seats
We’ll travel to Spencer for a guided tour of the 57-acre site, with a 25-minute train ride pulled by an antique diesel engine. This was once Southern Railroad’s largest steam locomotive repair facility on the east coast. The 37-stall Bob Julian Roundhouse, one of the largest ever built, was constructed in 1924. It is one of the few preserved roundhouses remaining in the country and houses about 40 restored locomotives and rail cars. Though known for its trains, the museum also holds one of the last remaining 1910 Buick automobiles in the country and the Melville Dairy Wagon, part of the fleet of six wagons used in Burlington during World War II to conserve gasoline to aid in wartime efforts. The Bumper to Bumper exhibit is an impressive collection of antique automobiles ranging from a 1901 White Steam Stanhope to a 1978 Plymouth N.C. Highway Patrol car. Finally, there is a full size replica Wright Flyer on loan from the Wright Brothers National Memorial.
On the way back to Raleigh, we’ll stop in Thomasville for a brief tour of the Mills Home, the original Baptist Children’s Home.
Join us for this exciting day. It includes a good bit of walking, but wheel chairs are available when reserved in advance. Sign-up and put your check for $15 made out to TBC in the lock box in the Senior Corner at the end of the B-Hallway or mail it to the church office. Put “Spencer” in the memo line. If you have questions, call Kathy Driver at 919-621-0236.

What a week of missions our team had amongst the people of Caye Caulker, Belize last week! They were so moved by the experience of being a part of the community they were serving 24/7 and forming relationships with the residents over and above serving them through the medical
doctor, dentists, hygienists, pharmacist, optometrist and assistants. It really made a difference in how we were able to share our witness – not just through deeds, but through verbal witness and living out the Christ life in front of them. God truly blessed every moment we were with them.
Jack and Bridgett McDuffie did an excellent job feeding the crew for the week – actually setting up accounts at a fruit stand and grocery store that we paid at the end of the week. Thank you Trinity for being a church that follows God’s calling to missions in Raleigh, the US and around the world! To God Be the Glory!

Rehearsals Sunday Mornings • 8:00am
Don’t forget that summer rehearsals for FirstLight are at 8:00am on Sunday mornings. This would be a great time to come and join us for rehearsal and worship leadership, as we do need to build our numbers in this early service choir. We will rehearse the anthem of the day with additional pieces to be prepared for a few weeks ahead.
Special thanks to Mark Valletta for sharing his solo voice in worship this past Sunday morning. I also would like to take the opportunity to thank our accompanists, Barbara Bowen, Ramona Green, and Wayne Rogers, for all they do to keep our worship services filled with beautiful music and for the accompaniment of our choirs and ensembles. We are blessed to have them as a part of our music ministry and worship at Trinity!
Leadership Volunteers NeededAugust will be here before you know it, and we will be needing some leadership positions filled for the 2014-2015 church year in children’s choirs and youth choirs. If you are interested in being involved in our music ministry, don’t delay in getting signed-up and prepared! As the summer months come and go, our time for preparation is fairly short. Call me with any questions and I can help you get a place to serve that best uses your skills and abilities.

It was an indescribable 10 days as the college/young adult team served our great God with the people of Kenya. There is not enough space in this newsletter to describe all we experienced as a team. God is at work in Kenya and we were simply a small part of God’s grand plan. We are changed people because of this trip. Thank you for all of the prayers and support. Thank you also for being a church that believes in international missions! To God be the glory!
