ThemissionofFoundationsSportsistohelpfosteryoungplayers’physical,mentalandsocialgrowthsotheycanreachtheirpotentialinlifethroughtheirparticipationinfootball.Theschoolwillendeavortoprovidethehighestqualitystaff,facilities,environmentandcurriculumtogiveplayersandcoachesthetoolstosucceed.
Weaimforthosewhograduatefromtheclubtobequalityplayerswithasolidfootballfoundationandgoodcitizens.
Ourcoreobjectiveistocreateanenvironmentofexcellenceandofthehigheststandardsinfootballandinnovation.

Thereislittledisagreementinwhattheconstitutionalprinciplesshouldbepresentwithinasportsentity.Ourvaluesrepresenttheywaywedesignoursystemsofeducation.Thereisauniversalbeliefin:fairness,kindness,dignity,charity,integrity,honesty,quality,service,andpatience.
Ourphilosophyisfoundedonasetofcoreprinciples,theseprinciplesgovernthepolicies,direction,actionsandstructureofourschool.
OurVision
Ourvisionistodevelopaplayers,selfconfidenceandabilitythroughouruniquephilosophy,methodologyandcurriculum.Overtheyearswehaveformulatedoursystemofdevelopmentbasedonresearchandeducation.Wehavelearnedthatenvironmentplaysacrucialroleinthedevelopmentofskillsnecessarytoenjoy,learn,competeandultimatelyexcelinasportsenvironment.Sportisaneducationalpassion,aplaceofexpressionandcreativity.Itisthroughsportthatchildrenlearnmanylifelessonsandtheydothisindirectlybywayofthegame.Weteachchildrentorespectthegame,respecttheirenvironmentandtheirpeers.Wedothisbyfocusingonhowtoplaythesportwithintelligenceandbyprovidingtherightmentalandsocialtoolstogainconfidenceandselfbelief.

WHYSHOULDYOUSENDYOURCHILDTOAFOOTBALLSCHOOL?
Manychildrenaspiretoplaythegameatanadvancedlevel.Howeverfootballisahighlycomplexandcompetitivegamethatrequiresmanyyearstomaster proficiency.Thegametodayismuchfasterandmoretacticalthaneverbefore.Lessthan1%ofthefootballpopulationwillmakeittothetop.Sowhenyoustarttoassessprobabilityyoumustagreethatthereneedstobemoretothegamethanjustbecomingaprofessionalathlete.
Therearemanyreasonswhyyourchildshouldtaketheirsportseriouslybutthemainonesarethelifelessons,sportwhentakenseriouslyisahealthydrugandbecomingaprofessionalathleteistheby-productfromyearsofqualitysportsdevelopmentexposedtoahighlevelofcoachingandcompetition.
Thekeyperiodofdevelopmentknowas“thegoldenyears”age6-15,arecrucialtolayingthefoundationsforlongevityinthesport.“AFUTBOLBASE”,weoffertheparticipantadetailedcurriculumwhichfocusesontheindividualwithoutdisruptingtheimportanceofteamethos.ItisduringthiskeyperiodthatchildrendevelopMyelinmorerapidly.Myelinisasheaththatcoversthebrainsneuronconnections.Inchildren,myelinarrivesinaseriesofwaves,someofthemdeterminedbybiologicalcode,someofthemdependentonactivity.Thesewaveslastintoyoungadulthood.Untilthistime,thebrainisextraordinarilyreceptivetolearningnewskills.
Coupledwiththeknowledgethatwehaveadetailedcurriculumwitheveryoneonboardstrivingforthesamepositiveoutcomesgivesustheabilitytobeconsistent.Consistencyinthelearningmodeliscrucialtooursuccess aseducators.
Furthermorethereisplentyofpreviousscientificstudiesthathaveshowna linkorcorrelationbetweenfitnessorsportsparticipationandbetteracademicperformanceintheclassroom.Onthesocialfront,footballhasallofthetoolstobeahugeforceinmakingchangeandresultinginpositivecommunityandsocialoutcomes.
Ascommunityfootballisplayedbymaleandfemaleswellintoadulthoodthereareimportanthealthbenefitstothecommunityinthepreventionofseriousdisease.Mentalhealthismostprevalentinyoungpeopleandfootballprovidesthephysicalactivityandsocialnetworkstohelpreduceanxietyanddepression.

Thebroaderbenefitsofsportarebeingincreasinglyrecognisedbygovernments,businessandcommunities.Sportcanhelpachievementalandphysicalhealth,crimeprevention,socialdevelopmentandinternationalcooperationobjectives.
Sportforchildrenandadultsisaneffectivemeansofreducingtherisingratesofobesityandchronicillness.Ifmanagedappropriately,itcanbeaneffectivemechanismtohelpachievesocialinclusionformarginalisedgroupsandreducecrimerates.
Sportimprovesmentalhealth. Mentalhealthproblemscarryahugeeconomicandsocialburden.Therehavebeenmanycontrolledstudiesintothebenefitsofsportandexerciseintheclinicaltreatmentofmentaldisorders.Thesestudiesoverwhelminglyshowthatthesport/exercisegroupexperiencesbetteroutcomesthanthecontrolgroup,Forexample,apopulationstudyinFinlandfoundthatindividualswhoexercisedtwotothreetimesaweekexperiencedsignificantlylessdepression,anger,stressandcynicaldistrustcomparedwiththosewhoexercisedlessfrequentlyornotatall.
Oneaspectwehighlyvalueisourcoacheducationprogram,allourstaffareaffordedtraining,support,educationandlearningopportunities.Ourprogramsareonlyasgoodasthepeopleinourteam.Weoperateasateamwiththreebasicprinciples1Mission(education)2Team(co-operationandunity)and3Individual(personaldevelopment)Theseprincipleshelpustoensurethatthewelfareoftheindividualisourpriority.

ThequestiononeneedstoaskisnotwhyshouldmychildattendanacademybuthowdoIkeepmychildfromdroppingoutofsports.Withinanyfootballclubyouonlyneedtoseethenumberofteamsintheseagegroupstorealisethatmanychildrendonotcontinuetoplaythegamepast12/13years.Therearemanyfactorsthatmostlikelycontributetowardsthishoweveralackofskillsgainedorlearnedandpoorcoachinggenerallycontributetowardstherateofkidsnotwantingtoplay.Thenextbigdropisat17/18thisgrouphavingacompletelyseparatefactorsthatcontribute.
Arecentsurveyrevealsthatatleast72percentoftheAustralianpopulationagedover15yearsparticipateinphysicalactivitylessthanfivetimesperweek(StandingCommitteeonRecreationandSport,2010).Thesurveyalsoshowsthat18percentofAustraliansparticipateinnophysicalactivity,13percentlessthanonceperweekand22percentonetotwotimesperweek.ItisclearthatalargenumberofAustraliansarenotbenefitingfromactiveparticipationinphysicalactivityorsport.
Thereismuchevidencetosuggestalsothatparentsandcoacheslackenoughsportknowledgeandcansometimesbethestrawthatbreaksthecamelsback. Competitionatearlyagecanstifleachild'senthusiasmasthemainfocusisonresults.Experiencethroughmistakesisbyfarthebestwayforachildtoimproveskills,unfortunatelymanyadultsdonotunderstandthisconceptandwhenwinningbecomesmoreimportantthecoachtriestomanipulatetheteamtoavoidmistakesratherthanencouragingplayerstotakerisksandtakeresponsibility.
Endorphins- Improvedself-esteemisakeypsychologicalbenefitofregularphysicalactivity.Whenyouexercise,yourbodyreleaseschemicalscalledendorphins.Theseendorphinsinteractwiththereceptorsinyourbrainthatreduceyourperceptionofpain.Endorphinsalsotriggerapositivefeelinginthebody,similartothatofmorphine.Forexample,thefeelingthatfollowsarunorworkoutisoftendescribedas"euphoric."Thatfeeling,knownasa"runner'shigh,"canbeaccompaniedbyapositiveandenergizingoutlookonlife.
AdvancedSportsParticipation
OpportunityandcircumstanceForaplayertoachieveahighlevelofplaytheyrequirefirstandforemostopportunity.IfyourchildisbornbetweenthemonthsofJanuaryandJuly,statisticsinfootballandanyotherelitesportwhichencompassesearlyidentificationthroughcutoffdatesshowthatplayersclosertothethosecutoffdates(inAustralia'scase1st ofJanuary)aremorelikelytogetselectedforadvancedprograms.ThisisnotalwaysbecausetheyaremoretalenteditisgenerallybecausetheyaremorematureandhavehadmoretimetodevelopthansayachildborninSeptembertoDecember.Iftheyareselectedthentheywillbeexposedtoagreaterlevelofcoachingandopportunitythroughoutthecorrespondingyears,thereforetheywillnaturallyimprovemorethanachildwhogetsleftbehind.Thishasalsobeenthecaseinschoolacademicprograms.
FSoffersallkidsachancetoreceiveabetterlevelofprofessionalcoachingandthusagreateropportunitytodeveloptotheirfullpotential.Weoffersourplayersanalternatepathwayaswellawaytocomplimenttheclubpathway.
Webelieve,thatFromages8-12yearsisthemostcriticalstageofdevelopmentinchildren'sabilityandskillandtoattainasolidfoundation,training1-2daysaweekisnowherenearenough.Whenwelookathebestathletesorartiststheywilltellyouthatonaveragetheywouldhavepracticedtheircraftfrom4-6hoursperday.Itcannotbeasometimesactivity.
Trainingtobethebestthatonecanberequiresdiscipline,hardworkanddedicationamongstmanyotherfactorsthatmustbepresent.Ultimatelyachildcannotbecomesuccessfulwithoutthesupportoftheirparentsandforparentstobeabletosupporttheirkidstheytooneedtounderstandtheprocessofdevelopmentandtheindustryinwhichtheirchildwishestoflourishin.Wedescribetheprocessasoutlinedbelow.
