You have probably no- ticed a big tent on our soccer field. The reason for it is our Parish is hosting a retreat of young men and women who will be doing a time of mission through- out many cities of our State but also throughout the U.S. These missionaries will go out into the streets of our cities announcing the love of Jesus Christ exactly as Jesus Christ did with his Apostles, sending them without any money, cell phones or any kind of security, totally abandoned to the will of God, and they will live each day announcing the Gospel and living off the providence of God. We are living in un- precedented times, and the best antidote to the virus of fear and uncertainty is the announcement of the Good News! I have done this experience myself several times in my life and every time it has been an experi- ence of purification and the love of God for me, a poor man. Fr. Basso and Jacob will also be part of this expe- rience and you will not see them for the next two weekends. I need to remain behind not only for the Parish, but also because we are finishing up the cat- echesis/talks in the Parish (a reminder: they are be- ing held every Monday and Thursday at 7:30 pm) and since half of the team (the youth) will be going on this mission, someone has to stay behind. The tent will also host a Mass on Saturday, July 11 th , which will be presided by the Archbishop who will welcome these young men and women back from this time of mission. Since the tent is on campus, this will be a nice cover from the heat for those who want to participate at the 10 am outdoor Mass...... I guess, two birds with one stone! The Gospel of today is refreshing. The first reading speaks of the way to peace. The way of pun- ishment or justice is hardly the way to peace. We sometimes try to achieve peace by the way of justice,

Dear Brothers and Sisters, happy Fourth of July! You have probably no-ticed a big tent on our soccer field. The reason for it is our Parish is hosting a retreat of young men and women who will be doing a time of mission through-out many cities of our State but also

throughout the U.S. TAKE THEM A MEAL

We have the opportunity to help by providing meals to our priests just twice a week. One of our kind parish-ioners has set up a way that we can sign up for this ser-vice, “take them a meal.” When you sign up you are responsible for cooking ONE MEAL. (Dessert is always welcome too!) You will be cooking for 7 adults. If possible include bread and a salad. The priests and seminarians are so grateful for your kind and generous care for them. By cooking for them you are making a direct impact in their well-being and strength. As always, thank you for all you do…

of having the other finally acknowledge that he/she is wrong, and we are right. The Gospel of today instead comes to reveal to us another way to peace. It speaks to us of something hidden, a mystery hidden in the Fa-ther that wants to be revealed to us. This mystery is revealed to those who have a humble heart, a heart that acknowledges that it needs to be helped. When we feel strong, our strength is often the way to peace. When we feel poor, we begin to intuit that the true way to peace, which is tied to humility, is to become small and meek. In order to arrive at peace, we need to go through what produces peace. That is why Christ speaks of taking upon oneself the yoke of obedience, that type of weight that is light and sweet because it is rooted in the relationship with Christ himself. Christ says: “No one knows the Son, and no one knows the Father except the one to whom it is revealed”. Chris-tian peace is found in this relationship. But how do we enter this intimate relationship? This is a door that is gently opened to us only by the Grace of God. The way to peace is received and not achieved, it is not in-vented, but is an attitude, and only the humble heart receives it, because the one who is humble sees that he/she needs it. Let us ask the Lord this Sunday to have the grace to lower our defense system rooted in justice and to accept the peace that is found in the humble relationship with the Father. To take upon one-self the yoke of Christ, is the door to true peace.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Dear children, families and teachers, it was very nice to see most of you at the Mass last Saturday as we closed the religious education year.

It was a moment of joyous communion as we saw each other in person.

We wish you a summer of rest after the very ‘special’ months we have been living lately. We will be in touch with you to restart the next year looking forward to the gifts that the Lord has already prepared for us.
