What is The Fraser Valley Challenge?
• An attempt to be the first group of youth to ever complete the The Sunshine Coast Trail
• Compete for the Amory Adventure Award
• 12 Venturer aged youth maximum
• 180 km in July - August 2014
• Getting in shape• Tough mandatory training• Multiple Hikes with backpacks• Grouse Grind with backpacks
• Planning, Training & Educational Meetings with expert guest speakers
• Filmed hike with GoPro cameras for documentary production
• An experience to last a lifetime
• Bragging rights
What to Expect
Training Hikes
• Starting in March
• Weighted Backpacks
• Required to complete atleast 10 of the 16 hikes
Weekly Training Sessions
Where: Brooke Elementry
When: Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm starting this coming week.
What we’ll be doing:
• Strength training
• Endurance & cardio
• Learning about hiking long distances
What to bring:
• Water bottle and weighted backpack
