OverviewConference

WHY ATTEND? Since 1992, we have hosted the National House Directors Conference. The conference helps house directors improve their skills and efficiency while becoming more aware of the value and importance of their roles. This year, we are pleased to announce the rebranding of the conference. Formerly the House Directors Conference, the AFLV Fraternal Housing Conference maintains the high level and in-depth learning experiences for house directors while adding an enhancing component for house corporation professionals and others who work in the fraternal housing industry.

At the conference, participants will learn to create appropriate and effective relationships with their many constituencies (students, parents, alumni, faculty, vendors, and house employees). The goal of the conference is to provide participants with unique and comprehensive skills and knowledge that encourages teamwork, leadership, fraternal values, and effective use of resources while supporting the shared mission of fraternities/sororities and the university.

Conference participants will develop skills in problem-solving, communication, resource allocation, and facility management and will leave the conference with a better understanding of issues and trends affecting higher education. Attendees will also connect to a network of colleagues who can be relied upon for support and assistance throughout the school year.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The conference provides the perfect professional development experience for house directors, potential house directors, house corporation officers, fraternity and sorority headquarters staff, and volunteers and campus professionals who work with house management. Participants of both audiences will engage in some shared learning opportunities, although most of the content will be presented in side by side tracks.

SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLEWe are pleased to announce the S. Shelley Sutherland Scholarship. In honor of Shelley Sutherland, longtime leader and innovator in the fraternal community, these scholarships are specifically designated for those participating in the Fraternal Housing Conference.

Download the scholarship application online at:http://aflv.org/EventsPrograms/FraternalHousingCon/Scholarships.aspx.

The deadline to apply for scholarships is March 15, 2013.
