Frequently Asked Question Q Why do we call the third part of our service the TABLE/RESPONSE? A We respond to God's Word, which is made possi- ble because of what Jesus has done by his death and resurrection. We remember this especially when we celebrate the Lord's Supper (Table). Even in weeks when we don't celebrate Communion, we re- spond to God's Word in and through Jesus Christ. To the People of Bridlewood It has come to the attention of the elders that a num- ber of requests will be coming to the next General Assembly to move the Presbyterian Church of Cana- da in the direction of marrying and ordaining people involved in same sex relationships. These requests conflict with the Scriptural and traditional position of the PCC on this issue. The Session is drafting a response calling for the Assembly to affirm a biblical stance and would ask the congregation to be praying for the Session and the Assembly in the months to come. Rev. PWS&D RESPONDS TO MALAWI FLOODING Flooding and heavy rains have affected 17 districts in Malawi. Heavy rain over the past month has swept many houses away and caused residents to flee to higher ground—more than 100,000 people have been displaced from their homes, mostly in the south of the country. Government reports indicate that at least 170 people have died in flash floods and a third of the country has been declared a disaster zone.

Crops, food items, household assets, livestock and infrastructure have all been heavily damaged. The worst affected are sheltering at evacuation centres based in primary schools without security, sanitary facilities, kitchen utensils, clean water or food. PWS&D will be responding through the ACT Alliance to help alleviate the crisis. Immediate support will be dedicated to:

Assessment and registration of the affected communities

Providing food items such as maize (flour), beans and cooking oil

Providing chlorine, mosquito nets, kitchen uten-sils, tents and plastic sheets.

Your financial support will help bring relief to those suffering from ongoing flooding. You can make a do-nation to PWS&D through your church, mail a cheque to the office, donate online or call 1-800-619-7301 x291.

Please mark donations as “Malawi floods.”
