Friday, December 5, 8PM - David Amram in Concert with the Harvard Wind Ensemble and Guest Saxophonist Kenneth Rodnofsky. David Amram is the composer of more than 100 orchestral and chamber music works, two operas, many scores for Broadway theater and film, including the classic scores for the films Splendor in the Grass and The Manchurian Candidate, as well as the landmark 1959 documentary Pull My Daisy, narrated by novelist Jack Kerouac. $5 tickets are available at the Harvard Box Office. Lowell Lecture Hall, Kirkland and Oxford Streets.

Saturday, December 6, 8PM – 00THUD. The Harvard Undergraduate Drummers (THUD), Harvard’s “Stomp”-inspired percussion ensemble, present their James Bond-themed fall concert. Dear freshmen:

Just a note to congratulate you on successfully finishing your first term at Harvard. It’s clear you have worked really hard — at least, at times — and confronted new challenges and the need to adapt earlier strategies for writing papers and preparing for exams. I hope that you look back on the term with a sense of accomplishment and a better idea of what college offers, and how you might most profitably use these four wonderful years.

Now, it’s time to relax and enjoy the opportunity to catch up with family and friends. I wish you the best for the holidays and the chance — in an unhurried way — to take your learnings from the fall to set up a really satisfying spring term.

Learn about the Harvard China Student Internship Program. Please come to the Harvard China Fund’s second information session for the Harvard China Student Internship Program – Summer 2015 on Tuesday,

December 9, 2PM, in CGIS S050. The 10-week program is offered in partnership with Chinese corporations, NGOs/NPOs, and multinational companies in China. Students experience modern China through their internship placements and gain an introduction to Chinese history and culture, all while learning first-hand about life in the workplace. Returning undergraduates from all concentrations are eligible, Chinese language is not required to apply, but most of the internship positions require some knowledge of oral and written Chinese. Opportunities for Freshmen

The Accessible Education Office (AEO) housing application is for students who anticipate that their disability and/or health status should be considered for on-campus housing assignments. Students should follow the procedure outlined on the AEO website at fas.harvard.edu/~aeo/housing.html. Detailed, current

clinical documentation must accompany this application. For documentation guidelines, visit: fas.harvard.edu/~aeo/documentation.html.

Housing applications and complete documentation that meets AEO guidelines are due in the AEO by noon on Friday, January 30, 2015. Even if you currently receive housing accommodations through AEO, you must reapply through this process. Applicants must also schedule an appointment (February 9-12) with the AEO by January 30. AEO reserves the right to request additional clinical information if requested accommodations are not adequately supported by the documentation, possibly causing delays and fewer housing options. Even if you are applying for accommodations, you must also register for the undergraduate housing lottery.

Immunization Compliance Check for Spring Registration. Compliance with Massachusetts and Harvard immunization regulations is required for spring registration. Check your immunization record on the HUHS patient portal to see if you need additional immunizations. HUHS Medical Records: 617-495-2055.

Reading and Study Strategies Course (Spring 2014) . Learn to read more purposefully and selectively, with greater speed and comprehension. This course is especially helpful for students overwhelmed by the volume and complexity of their reading. Visit bsc.harvard.edu/pages/reading-course for more details.
