World Book Day We had a great World Book Day this year. The Year 6 children
enjoyed their bus trip to Hitchin where they purchased books for the school library. ‘ I think the bus journey was good to prepare
the year 6s ready for secondary school. It was great to look in Waterstones; I found some of the
books amusing.’ Tyler. The other year groups (and the staff) looked amazing in their outfits, some of which were handmade by parents
and children from a variety of recycled goods. We were very impressed!
Teachers in Other Classes
We are trying something new at school this term and we are very excited about it. For the rest of this term, Miss Hodges will be teaching gymnastic (alongside Mr Jones) in every class as this is her area of expertise. Whilst she does this, the teacher of the
class she is teaching will teach a different subject in class 3. The subject is chosen according to the teachers’ subject leader role
e.g. Mrs Gumley will be teaching art, Miss Mayes will be teaching RE and Mrs Shiels will be teaching Geography. If this is
successful we hope to share more good practice like this.
Postponed events Unfortunately the decision has been taken to postpone the Car Boot Sale this weekend. We hope to reschedule for the summer term.
We will also reschedule our planned open afternoon from March 23rd to the summer term.
Book Review
Three Cheers The Secret Seven I absolutely loved this book because it kept me engaged throughout . The book is about the Secret Seven having to cancel their meeting as there were no mysteries to solve but then they end up having an adventure looking for a beautiful aeroplane which is missing. I like that they had an adventure and solved the mystery. I would definitely recommend this book for children aged 8 years or over. By Macie.
Mathletics HOT OFF THE PRESS!!!
We are incredibly pleased to let you know that we came 15th in the world in the recent Mathletics Challenge and 11th in Great Britain. We
earned a total of 265, 880 points across the week! The children worked incredibly hard to achieve this, many earning over 10, 000 points each. We would like to give a special mention to Dylan who managed
to achieve an amazing 30, 170 points on his own! We may be small, but we give it our all!

Speeding in the Village
Some villagers and parents have informed me that a number of cars are speeding through the village during the times of
school drop off and pick up. Please can I take this opportunity to remind you to drive cautiously through the village, adhering to
the speed limits. Thank you to those of your who continue to do this.
