EFFECTIVE 1630 WEDNESDAY, 13 DECEMBER 17, MARFORJ WILL RESUME NORMAL LIBERTY IAW REF B. FORCE-WIDE LIBERTY AND ALCOHOL RESTRICTIONS CONTAINED IN REFS D AND F ARE RESCINDED. PRIOR TO THE RESUMPTION OF NORMAL LIBERTY, COM-MANDERS WILL ENSURE EACH MARINE AND SAILOR IS ASSIGNED AN APPROPRIATE LIBERTY TIER IAW REF B. MARFORJ MEMBERS IN A TIER 1 LIB-ERTY STATUS ARE REMINDED OF THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS: 2.A. CURFEW: CURFEW FOR E-1 TO E-3 MEMBERS IS 2400 TO 0500. CURFEW FOR E-4 AND E-5 MEMBERS IS 0100 TO 0500. 2.B. LIBERTY BUDDY: A LIBERTY BUDDY IS REQUIRED FOR E-1 TO E-3 MEMBERS DURING ALL OFF-INSTALLATION LIBERTY. THE PURCHASE AND CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL AT ARMED FORCES RECREATIONAL FACILITIES OR AREAS IN JAPAN SUCH AS KADENA MARINA, THE NEW SANNO HOTEL, HARDY BARRACKS, OKUMA RECREATION AREA AND SIMILAR AREAS OR FACILITIES WHICH WAS PROHIBITED IAW REF F, IS AGAIN PERMITTED - CONSISTENT WITH THEIR STATUS AS ON BASE FACILITIES. 4. O5 COMMANDERS AND ABOVE MAY GRANT SPECIAL OVERNIGHT LIBERTY IN JAPAN ON A CASE-BY-CASE BASIS. LEAVE IN JAPAN IS AUTHOR-IZED IAW REF C. 5. COMMANDERS RETAIN THE AUTHORITY TO DIRECT MORE-RESTRICTIVE LIBERTY ORDERS AND POLICIES CONSISTENT WITH REF B. COMMAND-ERS MAY DIRECT UNIT RECALLS, DIRECT REMEDIATION PLANS, AND ASSIGN MARINES AND SAILORS TO THE LIBERTY RISK PROGRAM IAW CHAP 4 OF REF C. 6. CAMP/INSTALLATION COMMANDERS WILL CONTINUE TO EXECUTE SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS AT ALL OPEN GATES IAW THE FOLLOWING REQUIRE-MENTS: 6.A. ESTABLISH SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS 7 DAYS A WEEK FROM 1900-0700 FOR OUTBOUND TRAFFIC, WITH RANDOM INBOUND CHECKS FROM 0500-0700. 6.B. SOBRIETY CHECK POINTS WILL CONSIST OF AT LEAST ONE MARINE OR SAILOR E-3 AND ABOVE AND ONE NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER OR HIGHER (E-4 AND ABOVE) AND MUST BE PRESENT AT EACH GATE DURING DESIGNATED HOURS. 6.C. SOBRIETY CHECK POINT PERSONNEL WILL CHECK FOR I.D. CARDS, SOFA DRIVER'S LICENSES, AND LIBERTY CARDS FOR ALL UNIFORMED SERVICE MEMBERS. 6.D. CAMP/ INSTALLATION COMMANDERS ARE AUTHORIZED TO MOBILIZE THEIR SECURITY AUGMENTATION FORCE TO FACILITATE THESE REQUIREMENTS. 6.E. CAMP/INSTALLATION COMMANDERS WILL COORDINATE WITH THE PROVOST MARSHAL'S OFFICE TO CLOSE ANY GATE THAT IS UNABLE TO MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS. IN THE EVENT THAT GATES ARE CLOSED, CAMP/INSTALLATION COMMANDERS WILL ENSURE NOTIFICATIONS ARE MADE VIA THE APPROPRIATE CHANNELS TO INFORM PATRONS ABOARD THEIR CAMPS OF THE CHANGE.

Continuous Volunteer Opportunities On-Base MCCS Libraries on Camp Foster, Futenma & Courtney The library is looking for individuals who are comfortable using technology physically able to be on their feet for long periods of time, able to engage with a variety of people of all ages, including children and willing to work as park of one team. Please dress in business/casual attire and closed toed shoes. Detail of Duties: * Assisting with the location of books, audio books and DVDs * Providing general information about Library services * Maintaining displays * Supporting library activities e.g. Summer Reading Program * Assisting with the Innovation Lab * Check In/Out library books All volunteers will receive an LOA for all services they provide. Volunteers must wear appropriate clothing. Active duties are welcome to come and volunteer in uniform. Volunteers will be doing tasks such as hanging up clothes, testing electronics, putting away items, and helping to keep the store neat and organized. Volunteers will receive a Letter of Appreciation (LOA) after every 12 hours of volunteer service. The MTS will credit hours towards the LOA for the green line bus travel times from the camps to the MTS. With every 20 hours of volunteering, volunteers will receive $5.00 in store credit. All volunteers under the age of 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Lunch is provided for volunteers that volunteer for four hours or more in a given day. Japanese Spouses’ English Class

When: Meets every Monday from 1130am to 1:00 pm excluding American and Japanese Holidays.

Where: Held at Kadena Chapel one (building 9800) near Kadena Gate one

Come help teach English to Japanese military spouses wanting to improve their English confidence, learn about Western culture, and make new friends.

No formal teaching experience or preregistration is required to volunteer.

Suginoko Preschool Visits NEXT VISIT 27 DECEMBER!

3rd Intelligence Battalion has adopted a Japanese Preschool via the Camp Headquarters called Suginoko. This preschool is visited by 3rd Intelligence Battalion Marines, family members, children and friends with the help of Mr. Taka, the Camp Hansen Community Relations Specialist. If you have young children at home and still want to go out and volunteer with them, then this is the type of event for you!When: Every last Wednesday of the month from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

Where: We meet in front of the 3rd Intelligence Battalion front entrance and carpool to the school in Kin Town about 5 minutes away.

Kin-Hansen English Friendship Class

American and Japanese people come together to learn from each other every Tuesday evening. Volunteers assist a lead instructor in a EIKAWA (English Conversation) structured class. No preregistration or formal teaching experience is needed. This program is sponsored by the Hansen Camp Commander and Nago Central Community Center.

Where: Nago Central Community Center near Camp Hansen Gate 1. Turn at the first stoplight south of Gate 1, before the municipal parking lot.

When: 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Camp Schwab Play with English, Intercultural Exchange and Adult English Programs

This program is hosted by our sister camp and involves visiting preschools throughout Nago. Child volunteers are also welcome here! Following dates for December are Nov 30, Dec 4, 14, & 21 meet at the Camp Schwab Visitor’s Center at 0900. Dec 5, 13, 15, 19, 20 &22nd meet at the Camp Schwab Visitor’s Center at 0800. For individuals requiring transportation from Camp Schwab, van spots are first come first served, otherwise volunteers will follow Mr. Iha to the schools. Camp Schwab also has an Adult English Class every Wednesday night from 1900-2100 at the Schwab Education Center. POC for all Camp Schwab Community Relations is Mr. Fumio Iha at 625-2544 or 090-6861-5037.
