From My Heart to Yours Dear Church Family, It was indeed a Great Day last Sunday! Our morning emphasis on the greater blessing of being a giver was given an emphatic ‘Amen!’ as seen in your sacrificial giving to the Building Fund. As of Monday morning, we are very close to our goal of $600,000 with gifts and pledges. This morning we will receive an update on our Clear Vision 2020 campaign. We will be collecting pledges throughout this month. We also wish each mom a ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ today. The gift of motherhood is one of the Lord’s greatest gifts to our world. I am beginning a new morning series today that is a wake-up call to our families. It will provide practical action plans to help us create a Christian family culture that overcomes the divisive influences of our world. Do you want to give another great gift to your mom? Here’s an idea – learn to lead your family in the ways of Christ. She will love it! Want another idea – honor your mom with a gift to the Baptist Children’s Village today. They step in the gap and provide loving parental care for children when crisis hits a family. She’ll love that one too! Also, this Wednesday, May 17th, Commissioner Cindy Hyde Smith will be sharing her testimony and introducing a new online ministry she is starting called – Journey2Heaven.com. She has asked us to be a pilot church to evaluate the materials before it is placed online. Please come and participate this Wednesday night at 5:45 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Don’t forget our Wednesday Supper is still offered through the summer beginning at 4:45 p.m. I love you in the Lord, Bro. I was encouraged to see so many in our congregation contribute to Clear Vision 2020. There were great grand-parents, grand- parents, parents and children all over the sanctuary pouring down the aisles to the Chest of Joash to invest in the future of our church. I saw a quote recently that said, “Be careful about criticizing the next generation. After all, you raised them.” Let me encourage you - FBC Brookhaven is raising the next generation right and it was on full display in our church last week. Not only in the Great Day of Giving worship service, but at the Great Night of Praise. Our church was blessed to come back together that night for worship. It was a great night indeed! One of the most difficult things to do on our journey with Christ is Isaiah 43:18-20. The scripture says, “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field will honor Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen.” As much as the Lord blessed us last week the scripture says, “Forget about it.” In a way, God is saying, “You haven’t seen anything yet!!!” What might the Lord do today in our midst if we just call on His name. I can tell you without reservation - He could do things in our church we have never seen before. Thank you for your faithfulness to God and the praise of His great name.
