BII PLASTIC CHECK & FOOT VALVES Plastic Foot and Check Valves are manufactured in Canada by Boshart Industries. These Valves are engineered to provide maximum pumping efficiency with excellent flow rates. They are noncorrosive, nonconductive and will outperform and outlast most metal valves in extremely corrosive applications.Lead Free Certified to NSF/ANSI 372, these valves are ideal for potable water applications - the high strength check valves are for submersible pump sets up to 400 ft. deep, while the foot valves are typically used for centrifugal shallow/deep well jet pump installations. They are both commonly used in irrigation and various other applications where prevention of back flow and or loss of prime are required.

Plastic Check/Foot Valves - Part No. 17PCV075 (3/4”) - 17PCV200 (2”)•One piece “Extra Heavy Duty” valve body molded from rigid PVC, listed under NSF61 & NSF14 (ASTM D-1784) provides superior tensile strength.•FPT threads to ASME/ANSI B 1.20.1 specifications•Robust stainless steel poppet and hardware•NBR Sealing Gasket ensures a positive seal•Flow diverter minimizes turbulence and friction loss•Stainless Steel spring closes valve against pressure, eliminating flow reversal & minimizing hydraulic shock.

•Stemless acetal poppet guide for long-lasting, quiet, trouble free operation in both vertical and horizontal installations.

Plastic Foot Valves - Part No. 17PFV075 (3/4” ) - 17PFV150 (1-1/2”) •Polypropylene screen with high open area ensures flow is not restricted.•Small holes prevent flat pieces of debris/scale from passing thru and into the pumps impeller, a common problem with slotted type screens.

•Tapered screen with rounded nose cone prevents hang-ups on casing during installation.

It may still seem like 2014 is a long way off! Not so, the countdown is on. It’s time to take care of business so you are ready for the effective date of January 4, 2014 at which time section 1417 of the Safe Drinking Water

Act redefines “lead free” in the Safe Drinking Water Act through Bill S.3874 (The Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act). It will now limit the maximum content of lead in plumbing devises to a Weighted Average Lead Content of 0.25% or less. This law will not only prohibit wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers and importers from selling leaded plumbing fittings and fixtures, but will also prohibit the installation of product that does not meet the new standard (maximum content of lead in plumbing devises to a Weighted Average Lead Content of 0.25% or less).

US Congress signed into law an amendment to the Safe Drinking Water Act through Bill S.3874 (The Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act) which is effective January 4, 2014. With this, the ASME and CSA Standards

Committees addressed the issue by proposing an amendment to the materials section of the standard to reflect the new 0.25% weighted average lead content requirement. The Key Revision changes the current lead content requirement from not more than 8% down to not more than a weighted average of 0.25% lead. ASME A112.18-2012/CSA B125.1-12 has been published with clause # 4.9.3 which reads: Fittings intended to convey or dispense water for human consumption through drinking or cooking shall not contain a weighted average lead content in excess of 0.25% when evaluated in accordance with the test method in BSF/ANSI 372. The effective date for the Canadian Plumbing Code is December 31, 2013.

GETTING TO KNOW.......... Derek McKayI am new employee with Boshart Industries. I started working here towards the end of May 2013 to fill the new position in the finance department as a Jr. Accountant. I have

been taking night school throughout the summer to finish my Accounting Diploma at Conestoga College (Doon Campus), which I am very excited to be done! Once I graduate I plan to continue my education to pursue an accounting designation. For the past year I lived in an apartment in Kitchener when I went to school full time. At the end of April I moved back home and I am living just outside Tavistock

on HWY 59. After living in an apartment for a year living in the country is much more enjoyable. I am actively involved with the farming operations during the busy times when the help is needed. We run a cash crop operation growing coloured beans, soys, wheat and corn. In a few months I will be busy helping with harvest outside of work. Some summer things I enjoy to do in my spare time is playing golf, fishing and weekends up at Sauble Beach. It’s been awesome working here; everyone has been super nice and welcoming since day one. Special thanks to the finance department and anyone else that has been training me and answering all my questions along the way!
