School Equipment Before heading back to school in Term 4, we encourage students to check their school equipment and ensure they have everything ready for the start of a new term. The holidays are a great opportunity to replenish pens, pencils and other equipment.

Early Arrival of Students

Supervision of students before school begins at 8.30am.

There is no adult supervision before this time and we are

unable to ensure the safety of children in the playground.

We well understand that many parents have work

commitments which require them to leave early for work.

You may be able to make arrangements with friends or

neighbours for the supervision of your child/children

before school. Alternatively you can register your child

with our Before and After School Care. TASK who can be

contacted on 1300 827 500 or visit task-kids.com.au

ZONE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL It has been very competitive for Belmore South students who attended the Zone Athletics

Carnival. The carnival ran over 2 beautiful sunny days at Campbellfield oval in weeks 8 and

10. Day 1 consisted of all the track events such as the 100m, 200m, 800m and relays. There

were several students who tried their absolute best and were awarded participation points.

Day 2 consisted of all the field events such as discus, shot put and high jump. It was a

successful day for our superstar athletes where 2 of our star students have qualified for their

respective events moving onto the regional carnival to be held early term 4. Congratulations

to Maalik from S3 Dharawal 6 for 1st place in Discus and Richard from S3 Mundu for 1st place

in shot put. Very well done to all students who represented Belmore South at such a high

level.

YEAR 4 AQUATIC SURVIVAL SKILLS

PROGRAM

In weeks 9 and 10, all year 4 students had the opportunity to attend the Aquatic Survival skills

program at Roselands Aquatic Centre. The program was designed by industry experts to

specifically introduce and equip students with vital water safety skills in order to help build

confidence and pass on the importance of being water smart. It has been a wonderful

experience for all students involved and they are looking forward to practicing their new

found skills when they are swimming during the holidays.

Newsletter, Term 3 Week 10 2019 Page 5

On the 18th September 2019, 33 students from Belmore South Public School attended the

Community of Schools Combined Stage 3 Camp. The camp was exciting and the students got to

challenge themselves and experience new activities. This year camp went to Irukandji Shark

and Ray Centre where the students could touch and feed sting rays! The students worked in

teams to build a raft, rock climb, and challenge themselves in the lost world, and the giant

swing! Camp was an amazing experience! Can’t wait until next year.

CLASS FORMATION FOR 2020

School Commences for Year 1 - 6 Wednesday 29th January 2020 Kindergarten Thursday 30th & Friday 31st January 2020

Dear Parents, We are in the process of arranging and planning classes for 2020. The number of students enrolled at the school impacts on the class formation and the number of teaching staff appointed at the school. To help with our organization, it would be appreciated if we know of any children not returning next year to Belmore South Public School. Could you fill out the form below and send it back to school as soon as possible.

If your child is going to be late in returning to school after the holidays it would be helpful if you could send in travel itinerary with this form before the end of the term so that they can be included in our numbers at the beginning of the 2020 school year. Lurlene Mitchell PRINCIPAL

OUR STORY

TASK was started in 2013 by Madi Morrison and Suzanne Tucker – two mums with 3 children each. We were

experiencing the chronic shortage of after school care at our own school in Sydney’s Inner West. We began as a small

homework club – with 5 children (3 of them ours!) with one educator in a classroom. Our aim was to create a place that

combined care, play and homework after school. In 2015, we became approved providers of out of school care. We

have grown over six years and now operate in Newcastle, the Central Coast, Tweed Heads and Sydney in 15 schools

across the public and independent/catholic school systems. TASK is an ethically private service – we channel monies

back into our programs, people and resources. Madi and Suzanne are joint and equal owners of TASK. We employ 120

people – all of them from the local communities in and around the schools at which we provide service. Anyone

wanting to work with us, please send us a resume. We love spending time with kids and love seeing them try new

things, make new friends and develop new skills. We are passionate about improving, every day.
