Butterworth News October 2019 Mission: The Butterworth community will provide a quality education in a safe environment which promotes success and encourages lifelong learning. From the Principal - Fall is officially upon us and so is the hard work of teaching, learning, and growing. Here at Butterworth we promote a growth mindset. Some things that we need to learn and do are hard and we aren’t good at them, yet. That small three letter word - yet - is powerful. The word yet gives us permission to try and fail and try again, that is how we learn. You will have the opportunity to check in with your child’s teacher during conferences on October 24th and 25th. You will see what they have been learning and working on and what they will be learning next. Don’t miss this opportunity to see how your child is growing! The book fair will also be open during conferences, profits from the book fair help the school with needed supplies. Family Fun Night - October 11th from 5:00-7:00 is our fall carnival! We are excited to bring this event back to Butterworth, but we need your help to make this a success. If you are able to volunteer to run a game for an hour that would be great - please call the office and let us know. We also need donations of cakes, cupcakes, or sweet treats and pop of any size and flavor. Help our Ball Field - A big THANK YOU to whomever took care of the spreading the dirt on the ball field. We appreciate your help. Parent Mentor Program - It’s not too late to become a parent mentor! Please contact Jen Pancrazio in the office to learn how you can be involved at the school and earn a $500 stipend ! Dental Bus - The dental bus is coming to Butterworth in October. Please fill out the forms in today’s Thursday folder and return to school if you would like to participate. Phone calls and Website - Occasionally I will communicate important information to you using the Sky Alert phone system. I record a message and it is sent to all families. If you do not answer the phone call it will leave a voicemail for you. Please take the time to listen to the voicemail. If you just call back no one is available to answer your call. Also, you can check the Butterworth calendar at www.molineschools.org under schools. You will also find lunch menus there as well. From the Nurse - Kindergarten and new students of other grades entering an Illinois school for the first time will need a completed physical, less than a year old, with parent/guardian portion filled out and signed, eye examination, and proof of immunizations by October 15, 2019.
