Motor Function German physicians Gustav Fritsch and Eduard Hitzig discovered they could make different body parts move by mild electrical Stimulation. The arch shaped region that controls movement is the motor cortex

Mapping the Motor Cortex

Otfrid Foerster and wilder Penfield mapped

the motor cortex by stimulating different

cortical areas according to parts they controlled.

It was discovered that one side of the brain

controlled the other (left side of brain controls

right side of body)

Neural ProstheticsBrown University conducted a study to monitor when monkeys would move or think to move the monitor and later predict brain signals using recording electrons

With the findings researchers programmed a cursor to move to the monkeys thinking
