Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

On March 14th, 2017, we ushered in Saint Patrick’s Day a bit early and kicked off this high and holy Irish celebration with the Chief of Detectives, Robert Boyce at Wolfgang’s Steak House Tribeca. This event sold out early and the Wolfgang’s staff did not disappoint us in delivering a great venue.

Chief Boyce, a remarkable public speaker who always speaks from the heart, shared his knowledgeon recent major crimes that were successfully solved by his Detectives. Honoring Our Military and Law Enforcement Veterans

At our April NLEA meeting held at Gallagher’s Steak house, the NLEA Board honored our Military and LawEnforcement Veterans by paying special tribute to a man who is both a WW2 Infantry veteran and a retiredmember of the NYPD. Mr. Vincent “Jimmy” Laudani was in attendance with his family along with his longtimefriend, Ed Kiley. Ed paid tribute by telling stories of how his friendship with Jimmy began and what anexceptionally heroic life Jimmy has lived thus far. The tribute ended with Ed leading all those in attendance in aninspiring rendition of “America the Beautiful”, sung in chorus as all joined in and a presentation of an inscribedNLEA pouter plaque thanking Jimmy for his service.

9/11 Memorial – Larry Mannion Retires

NLEA Member and NYPD Retired Chief Larry Mannion retires from the 911 Memorial on May 4, 2017.:

The NLEA thanks Larry for all of years of service to the New York City and his profound impact on all of us during his term as VP/Chief Security Officer. Excerpts from Larry Mannion’s Retirement letter:

Friends:

Those of you who have spent time at 9/11, will remember the countdown clock at One Liberty - ideally it kept us focused on the job at hand - open the Memorial on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

I saw it on my first day (10/12/10) when it read 333 Days and thought - plenty of time!! It wasn't.

It was just enough: to hire a team of security professionals, establish working relationships with three Policedepartments and several federal agencies, have weekly meetings with City Hall, contract with security vendors -and have a screening facility designed and built at the available space at 90 West Street. It ended well, and we went on to screen about 11 million people thru May 2014 - when the fences came down. Now, three years later, we have added almost 9 million museum guests to the total.
