How you can help your child at home?
Make a chart of the responsibilities of each person in your house that shows how you all cooperate.
Show how you have to cooperate when playing a game. The students can conduct a survey on their parents workplace and how everyone cooperates.
Look at a sports team and draw how each member cooperates.

Indonesian Language Focus:
Intermediate/Advanced
In Indonesian Intermediate and Advanced class, students will study simple sentences , the use of capital letters,
reading simple Indonesian stories fluently, following two simple instructions and responding to appropriate
questions. To integrate with the unit the students will study cooperation; how people cooperate in their home,
neighborhood( such as siskamling, kerja bakti di lingkungan ) and school. In addition, students will study recount
writing ( telling about past experiences) To enhance their presentation skills, the students will use some IT
applications such as Photo Booth and Microsoft Word.
Vocabulary: Kerja sama, gotong royong, bergiliran, antri, sepakat , kesepakatan, peranan, peran, tujuan,
perjanjian, sikap, perilaku, menghargai, tanggung jawab, konflik, beban kerja, keterampilan, menghargai dan

BeginnerIn the Indonesian beginner class, students will learn greetings (salam and selamat), counting numbers from 1- 10
and will share personal information such as names, birthday, address, hobbies, family and school. The students
also will learn some Indonesian songs and how to introduce themselves and their friends to others.

Visual Arts
In Grade 2 the students will begin the first Unit of Inquiry as a stand alone. Focusing on an artist study of AndyGoldsworthy, an environmental artist that only uses natural materials in open environments to create his
sculpture. In support of the Unit of Inquiry the students will initially work independently to learn how he creates hisartwork and practice with the different materials. Then they will be grouped together and experience how working
together as a group is essential to achieving their creation of a large environmental artwork.
UNIT OVERVIEW
Music
The Grade 2 students will become familiar with the routines of the music room. They will begin to recognizesimple melodic patterns using do-re-mi-so-la and high do. They will also learn the hand signs for these notes.
Theoretical elements such as dynamics (loud and soft, crescendo and decrescendo) will also be explored. Asrelates to their unit of inquiry on cooperation, the students will experience the benefits of cooperation through anumber of singing games.
PE
First Id like to say welcome back even though its has been over two weeks since we have returned from the big
holiday. Now that we are back, it s right back to the grind for the students and teachers. We started 2011/12
with getting more familiar with nutrition and related fitness. The PE class has been working on learning about
nutrition (Food Pyramid) and fitness exercises. Your child may have already be coming home letting you know
about grains and vegetables. We will continue learning about health and related fitness for the remainder of the
year with a concentrated focus on this over the next two weeks.
