2 Galilean Home Shepherd 3 Galilean Home Shepherdthrough our doors since 1991. Needless to say, the halls of the Angel House have seen their fair share of baby fun over the years. Our wonderful staff has had the privilege of a cou-ple sets of twins over the last several months and one pair will be heading home soon which made us remi-nisce a little bit. Lillie and Lylah are inseparable and prove it daily. There are times when workers check on them at nap time and find their cribs “miraculously” side-by-side with a game of tug-o-war being contest-ed with a prized blanket or even sometimes just with big grins and laughter displaying their pleasure with each other’s presence. Anytime that Lylah is off to a doctor appointment without Lillie (or vice versa) the other seems lost. They are often found tangled up with each other on the floor giggling and carrying on to the beat of their own twin telepathy which almost always gives our staff joyful chuckle as well. There have been times that if one gets in some kind of trouble, as tod-dlers often do, the other is there to stare down the worker as if to say, “Don’t mess with my sister.” The same goes for defending against a rival toddler, if Lillie looks like she might encounter a “problem,” you better believe Lylah is there to provide back up. As they go home to their mommy, it is sad to see them leave, but we rejoice to see a family reunite with a second chance. These are the moments that Born Free was founded on, but that doesn’t make it any easier for our staff and volunteers to have to say good-bye to the little ones they helped raise for the time they were on our campus. Our prayer is that the love they receive while in our care sets up a foundation for them and their families.

SPECIAL THANKS AND A FEW CRITICAL NEEDS We want to say thank you to those that have reached out to let us know they saw our ministry fea-tured on the TV series “Revelations.” Thanks to Horizon Media Studios, the episode has already aired multiple

times on various national networks and will continue to be over the coming months. We also have the show available upon request via DVD with any donation. Be sure to stop by our website (www.galileanhome.org) for airing information in your area. Something else we are specifically grateful for is your response over the years to our request for Camp-bell’s Soup labels. It began over 20 years ago when Campbell’s began a program that required one million labels to be collected with the prize being a 15-passen-ger van. Several adjustments to the program and years of faithful giving by our generous supporters later we have turned in 1.6 million labels and will be awarded a mini van very soon for the Galilean Christian Academy. We are still collecting labels as there are many other aspects of the program that help our school – keep sending them and we will keep using them, thank you all for your tireless support in this venture. We have an opportunity, through new legislation, to have two of our kids be able to stay here in the U.S. and will be going through the steps to complete the paperwork which has to be filed in person at the nearest embassy associated with the children. So, there are “out-of-the-blue” costs associated with this process that isn’t in our normal operating budget. The traveling costs, attorney fees and so on will approach five or six thousand dollars. If any of you are able to give a little more toward this particular cause, we profusely thank you in advance as these kids will benefit tremendously from this endeavor. With the Sandy Hook tragedy and others similar to it in the news on a regular basis these days, we have decided to bolster up the security on our cam-pus. We are installing new measures in both the Angel House and the Galilean Christian Academy to ensure the safety of our kids and also our dedicated staff and volunteers. There will be magnetic doors and cameras along with other improvements which again puts us in the position of needing a little more over and above our day-to-day costs. The project is going to cost just over ten thousand dollars. We know that anything you send is a blessing and do not take that fact for grant-ed, especially in these economic times, but if you feel led to give extra toward offsetting the cost of providing a safer environment for our ministries we know that God will give you an extra blessing as well. With over 29-thousand on our mailing list, no gift is too small for our big God – bless you! Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Jesus Christ.”

A Walk With Papa’ Oso A lovely, sunny, cool (60-degrees) day – it seems more like April than January although the weather report calls for some real cold temperatures this com-ing week. Since we can’t control the weather, we will take what the Lord sends. Today, 50 years ago in Redford Township (a sub-urb of Detroit) Sandy and I eloped and were married in the living room of Judge Ambrose, the local judge at the time. We had planned a large Polish-Catholic wedding (that’s Po...lish, not Pol..ish.) As it worked out, my future mother-in-law became impossible to deal with. Being Catholic, her family disowned us – it only lasted nine months as on Sept. 21st we ended up having that large Polish-Catholic wedding with her dad walking her down the aisle. What a 50 years it has been with nearly all of it being written in moms two books! We had often talked about what we would be do-ing on our 50th anniversary. We knew we would be busy in the ministry, but would time and time again rock together on the porch of one yet to be built log cabin and grow old together – but, God’s plans are not our plans and things are really different. Mom is in Glory rejoicing with the angels and I am rocking alone with an empty rocker next to mine. It is starting to feel cool as the temp drops some and the sun makes its daily trek to the west. I am walking out the long lane, alone, heading back to the main house and the excitement of a beautiful after-noon comes to a close. As I pass the carpentry shop, our carpenter Tom is locking up and heading toward his truck. Tom makes nearly all the furniture, cabinets and bookshelves needed here at the Galilean Home with most of his work done for our Academy. Off to my left is the Mary/Martha House which houses our Volunteer Service girls and is presently filled to capacity, (we have a few volunteers taking residence in the Angel House and will always make sure lodging is available for our V.S. Girls) I say hi to Sara, our cook, as she comes out. Sara is from the Bruder Haus in Pennsylvania. I pass the picnic shelter and veer left toward the main building, at the same time passing the school and gym. Judging by the noise level, school is out with volleyball and basketball practice in full swing. I pass the Butchie House on my left and John & Sissy’s cabin just past the Butchie House and Joseph’s Storehouse (our food storage building) is next in line.

Then the combination quilt auction storage and Zach-ary’s Fudge Shop building . . . Uh oh . . . here comes Josh heading towards me, I greet him and then it’s up to the office to see what is happening. I am warmly greeted by Debbie J., Michelle, Adrienne and Debbie B. — being the only rooster, I check my mail slot and scoot out of the hen house to head down to my apart-ment where I flop in my chair to finish this letter. I’ll wind down with the news that Amy is in the hos-pital now for about a week with acute respiratory dis-tress syndrome. Amy is only 38, but has had her share of medical problems over the years. We adopted her 28 years ago when she was 10. As of this writing, we don’t have any work teams scheduled, but I believe by the time this letter is read, we will be receiving calls. As this new year advances, I can not express enough, the thanks for all of your support. With mom gone, the work load on my shoulders has been tre-mendous, but with help from supporters from all over the U.S. and Canada – you all make that load lighter as time goes on. Nearly all of the 50 years since Sandy and I said our “I do’s,” have been focused entirely on what is called the Galilean Home now. After I am reunited with Sandy, my prayer is that these same supporters who have blessed us for so long, along with new ones, will pick up the ball and run with it. We do not know of Christ’s return or even if any of us have another day on this earth, but as long as Papa’ bear has strength and breath, I will be doing exactly what I am doing now – fulfilling my calling and honoring Sandy’s request of, “Dad, don’t quit, don’t ever give up.” and mom, if you are reading this, I will fulfill that request (or was that an order?) until we are together again.
