011-2012 SCHOOL SITE COUNCILWe are proud to announce the winner of the recent School Site Council election -- Mahalakshmi

ameshbabu. She will join the council starting next school year. Thank you to the two other candidatesChanchal Sahai and Niki Maroko for a close and exciting race. Thank you also to the many parentsho voted in the election. The vote was very close, and we had the largest voter turnout ever for aSC election.

Merav worked tirelessly to bring many enjoyable community events toGarden Gate this year and we are forever grateful for the impact she's had on our school andcommunity. While Merav is stepping down as President, she assures us she will remain involved wthe PTA. Phew!

TUDENT MEDICATION TO BE DISCARDED JUNE 7ease be advised that all student medication must be picked up, in the office, by parents no later than June 7. Any medicationft in the office after June 7 will be discarded. Thank you.

YES OF HOPE partnership with Vision Service Plan (VSP), CUSD is sponsoring Eyes of Hope for the second year. This Eyewear Donationrogram will run thru the end of May. Garden Gate is collecting used eyeglasses to be recycled and distributed to children anddults throughout the world. The Eyes of Hope collection box is in the office. We will accept prescription glasses, readers, andunglasses in plastic or metal frames. Cases can also be used if they are donated with the glasses inside. Thank you for youonation.

HANGES TO OUR PARKING LOTor a while now, you've read about our parking lot traffic issues in the Gatoraid. In an effort to move the traffic through the lotster, while maintaing the safety of our students, our parking lot will be repainted and re-signed over the summer. When schoo

egins in August, you will notice that the curb will be marked for drop-off and pick-up only - this is much like the airport, wheree cars keep moving through. Drivers may not park cars at the curb. The curbside will be marked with signs instructing driveat they must pull all the way forward and that they may not stop or park. In addition, we will have a "drive through" lane that

rivers can use when pulling out of the curbside lane (again, similar to the curbside at the airport). Finally, you'll notice thesphalt will be marked with arrows and words like, "drop-off/pick-up" or "drive through". Please contact me if you would be wil help direct traffic for the first weeks of school, until we see that drivers are able to follow the new procedure. Thank you in

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Summer RegistrationRegistration will continue at the home school sites through June 17, 2011. After this date, registration willshifted to the Cupertino Union School District Office, Student Assignment Department beginning June hrough August 12, 2011. The District Office is located at 10301 Vista Drive in Cupertino, and will be op

for registration from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Due to the increased enrollment across the District, space is not guaranteed at home schools. The Distdoes guarantee a space at an overflow school within the District.

Change of ResidencePlease be aware that parents/guardians are required to notify the school site or the District Office ochange in residency within 10 days of moving. Parents/guardians may complete a Request for Transform at the time the change of residence is submitted if they wish to remain at the current school sApprovals are based on adequate space availability and there are no guarantees that a student mcontinue at the current school site. All other Request for Transfer forms will be available on August 10, 20

at the school of choice.

Important Attendance Policy reminderStudents who leave early before the last day of school will be placed on the registration priority list after astudents registering in the spring. If the number of neighborhood students exceeds capacity at the schoosite, students will be designated to an overflow school site until space becomes available at the homeschool.
