Acts of Creation

Day 4

 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night.

They will serve as signs for festivals and for days and years.

15 They will be lights in the expanse of the sky to provide light

on the earth.” And it was so..

Genesis 1:14-19

16 God made the two great lights—the greater light to have dominion over the day and the lesser light to have dominion over the night—as well as the stars. 17 God placed them in

the expanse of the sky to provide light on the earth,

18 to dominate the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 Evening came, and then morning: the

fourth day.

DAY 4 God created…

Planetary Orbit,

Gravitational pull,

Stars, Moon & Sun

He made them and placed them in motion and

order…

He is a God of Wonders!

GOD OF WONDERSFACTS @ CREATION:

Every other planet but the earth has an elliptical orbit around the sun.

The earth has a circular orbit of 93 million miles around the sun which enables the earth

to sustain biological life.

GOD OF WONDERSIf the earth was not perfectly placed in its

exact location we could have varying temperatures ranging from –70 degrees to

860 degrees.

The earth is inclined 23o which keeps the North and South poles from becoming too cold and keeps the temperatures moderate at the equator. Without this tilt life could

not be sustained on planet earth.

GOD OF WONDERSThe rotation of the Earth is 1,002 miles per hour. If our planet did not rotate at such a rate the earth would face the sun for too long of a period of time and no

vegetation would survive. And the side facing away from the sun would be too

cold to sustain life.

seasons we know.

Calendar – the positions of the celestial bodies help form the foundation of the

calendar we use.

God placed the Luminaries in place as a reminder of His power, majesty, glory,

creation and much more!

The Luminaries point us to the God of creation! He lights up the skies!

WORSHIPWORSHIPAncients worshipped the Luminaries!

Today we have we worship the luminaries through horoscopes!

God is declaring that the sun, moon, and stars are not cosmic deities worthy of

reverence, but He alone is!

WORSHIPWORSHIPYou alone are the Lord.

You created the heavens,the highest heavens with all their host,

the earth and all that is on it,the seas and all that is in them.

You give life to all of them,and the heavenly host worships Youthe heavenly host worships You.

The heavens declare the glorydeclare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims

The luminaries demonstrate the Majesty of God.

He set them in place by His fingertips and they attest to Him as the Creator!

This is a declaration that Israel’s God is the God that rules the heavens and the earth.

LIGHTLIGHT

“Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to provide

light on the earth… to separate light from darkness. ”

LIGHTLIGHTGod placed the Luminaries (Lights) in

the expanse.

God formed the Sun & the Moon.

The Luminaries have a practical purpose to separate light from

darkness.

LIGHTLIGHT

Spiritual meaning: God does not want us to live in darkness!

“I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me would not remain in darkness.”

LIGHTLIGHT

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Walk as

children of light.
