Accessing the GENI Desktop• https://genidesktop.netlab.uky.edu/• Can login using your Emulab/Protogeni account• Can also manually load your GENI certificate• Provides access to your slices• Allows you to create slices via (autologin to) Flack• Enables you to instrumentize your slice with the GEMINI I&M

instrumentation and measurement tools. Utilizes a “Global Node (GN)” to run the I&M services.• Allows you to monitor your slice “live”.

Current Capabilities• Provides a very easy to use and simple login process.• Authenticates a GENI user using their GENI Certificate and passphrase• Serves as a one stop shop for

• creating slices (use FLACK)• adding resources to a slice (uses FLACK)• Uses a plugin/module style architecture that currently provides

• Web based SSH access to nodes• Web based File copy to multiple nodes in your slice simultaneously• Web based run command to perform same operation on multiple nodes• Provide a Single abstraction to selecting and operating on nodes• And many more cool features (Stop by our tutorial today at 3:30pm or the Demo session at

5:30pm.)• Presents GEMINI data collected and provides a visual interface to use slices• Support for more user written modules or plugins using HTML5

Future Directions• Better integration with backend GEMINI instrumentize scripts• Add support for other login methods like the GENI Portal/CH and

Planetlab credentials• Add limited feature support for slices without GN Nodes• Add support for resources other than VM or raw PC Nodes• Add more plugins/modules to the GeniDesktop for tasks

used/requested by users like traffic generator module and “set Path” module • Continue to integrate old INSTOOLS and LAMP

visualization/configuration into the GeniDesktop in a way that is transparent to the user.
