THERAPISTS at Glenvale, whether those who are currently employed by the school or ones
who are here in response to a referral to ADHC, CPA, Samaritans, etc conduct assessments
and provide professional advice to teachers to support children’s programs at school. Rarely
do therapists work one to one with a child on a regular intervention program. It is much
more likely that the therapist will support the teacher to design a program which will then
be put in place on a daily basis and implemented by the classroom teacher or SLSO as part of
a student’s educational program.

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL We have had a great start to
Term 4. This is always a very
busy term with teachers
writing students’ reports,
preparations for Presentation
Day and Graduation Dinner,
etc. Students have been
enjoying the warmer weather
and getting the vegetable
gardens going again as well as
walking in the arboretum
(Narara) and up Happy Lane
to look at the beach (The
Entrance North). It is the
time of the year to remind
ourselves to send in hats and
sunscreen for our children.
Sun protection is vital for our
young people and many of
our students take quite some
time to learn about wearing
hats and sunglasses as well as
putting on sunscreen. Please
make sure that your child has
a hat for school and
sunscreen available to protect
their skin and eyes.
In the last week of last term,
Rob Taylor of the Mustang
Owners Club came along to
the school to present us with
a cheque. Each year for some
years now, the club has
donated the proceeds from
their big display at The
Entrance foreshore to
Glenvale School. This year, in
spite of it being a very wet
day, they raised that
wonderful sum of $3,000.
We are enormously grateful
to them for their support.
Regards,
Gwenda Williamson

much higher. Please
consider sending in the $35
as soon as you are able to
do so. Many thanks to those
who have already done so.
All donations to the school
over $2 are tax deductible
as Glenvale is registered
with the Australian Tax
Office as a deductible gift
recipient.
Every public school asks for
a small contribution towards
the many costs associated
with education programs. At
Glenvale we ask that
parents contribute $35 per
child each year. This has
not changed for many years
and is a very small
contribution by comparison
with other schools even
though our costs can be

MYUNA BAY CAMP Some of our most senior students went off to camp at Myuna Bay Sport and
Recreation Centre on the last three days of last term. This year, for quite a
number of our students, it was their very first camp. They had an absolutely
wonderful time. It certainly seems as though Myuna Bay is their favourite location.

For many years, volunteer drivers have been taking our children who use a wheelchair
on their community outings each week using the Wheeling & Able buses. We currently
have no drivers to support Glenvale School’s Narara students with this voluntary role.
Unfortunately, we have been advised that our current driver cannot continue and W&A
have no other drivers available.
Children who are mobile have many opportunities to take part in other activities but
children who use a wheelchair find it much harder to have these same opportunities.
The Mitsubishi Rosa bus that the Glenvale students can use, takes a whole class of these students and their teachers to go
shopping, visit a park, go ten pin bowling, etc.
Do you have an LR licence and a few hours to spare each week to do one or more of these trips? Do you know of someone who
could?
You will also need a Working With Children Check (free) and W&A will familiarise you with the bus and the wheelchair hoist, etc.
We are desperately in need of your help.
If you feel you might be able to help, or know someone who could, please get in touch with us. Our children and staff will be so
grateful.
