DESCRIPTION

Pressure Pro gives you peace of mind knowing that your tires, your only contact with the road, are inflated properly for optimum performance and handling. Properly inflated tires last longer. The life of your tire is extended due to less tread wear. The Department of Transportation estimates that 5.4 million gallons of fuel per day (over 2 billion per year) are wasted due to low tire pressure

• INDIRECT Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems: Do not measure tire pressureDo not measure tire pressure. They monitor individual wheel speeds and compare tire rotations to assume tire pressures. An under-inflated tire has a slightly smaller diameter than a correctly inflated tire and therefore rotates more times to cover a specific distance. These TPMS rely on factory settings for correct tire pressure levers and fail to perform initialization or reset readings, leading to potentially dangerous false or missing alerts.

• DIRECT/Internal Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems: Utilize pressure sensors installed to the inside of the tire. These systems normally require an additional antenna in each wheel well to overcome signal drops caused by the added ‘noise’ of the tire. Internal sensors require the removal and breaking down of the tire for installation and maintenance. Internal sensors, which can be easily damaged when removing the tire from the rim, require additional equipment (handheld devices) to reprogram after tire rotations or during maintenance.

• DIRECT/External Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems: Utilize pressure sensors located on each wheel's valve stems to directly measure the pressure in each tiredirectly measure the pressure in each tire. These sensors broadcast pressure data via wireless RF signals to display monitor (or receiver) located in the tractor. Since direct TPM Systems actually measure the pressure in each tire, they are able to accurately detect when any tire is under or over inflated. PressurePro’s direct TPMS can detect a drop in pressure as small as 1 psi and can display current pressures, low and high pressure alerts and temperature both in-cab and/or to a remote location such as a fleet maintenance office.

Increased Fuel Efficiency Extended Tread Life (especially for

“Super Singles”) Reduced Carbon Emissions Decreased Maintenance Cost Reduced Roadside Downtime Added Safety Enhanced Vehicle Handling Lessened Damage to Casings Lowered Insurance Costs due to

fewer accidents and less vehicle damage

Fewer liability problems Enhanced Stability and Braking

Page 4: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

Tires are the single largest contributor to vehicle maintenance costs

Tires properly inflated experience:▪ Greater fuel economy / less fuel use ▪ Longer tread life and less premature wear▪ Less casing damage allows retreading or sale of used tire▪ Less driver down time / overtime cost▪ Lower tire maintenance costs▪ Lower insurance claims and damage to property▪ Decreased carbon emission pollution▪ Customer dissatisfaction on delayed shipments▪ Fewer roadside problems and lower costs▪ Provides driver peace-of-mind, time and added safety

Improperly inflated tires are a safety hazard!

Tires are the second most likely cause or contributor to vehicle accidents, accounting for 20.9% of all accidents.

Tire debris (gators) thrown from vehicles can endanger other vehicles.

Improperly inflated tires compromise vehicle handling, stability and braking performance, particularly in adverse conditions.

TIRE PRESSURE RESEARCH

Report Summary▪ U.S. Dept. of Commerce, National Technical Information Service, pub

#PB2005100013, “Commercial Vehicle Tire Condition Sensors”.▪ Research performed by Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc., McLean VA

Survey Data Summary▪ 3,261 tractors, 18,039 tires▪ 1,300 trailers, 7,501 tires

Despite the long list of benefits that proper tire pressure provides, research regarding tires shows a large gap between how tires should be cared for and how they are cared for.

Page 7: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

Tractors▪ 53% of tires are more than 5psi under target▪ 7.4% are at least 20psi under target▪ 1.4% are more than 10psi over target

Trailers▪ 67.3% of tires are more than 5psi from target▪ 8.7% are at least 20psi under target▪ 2.4% are more than 10psi over target

Tractors▪ 44% of tires are more than 5psi from target▪ 2.1% are at least 20psi under target▪ 6% are at least 10psi over target

Trailers▪ 55.6% of tires are more than 5psi from target▪ 1.6% of all tires are at least 20psi under target▪ 16.7% of all tires are at least 10psi over target

Industry Wide

Large Fleets(>3000 tractors)

Page 8: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

Each 10psi of under inflation (per tire) causes a fuel economy drop of 0.5%*

* TMC, RP #233 – Guidelines for Tire Inflation Pressure Maintenance

Page 9: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

Using the previous statistics gives an aggregate of 0.514% increase in fuel use due to low tire pressure, per tractor-trailer combination

Cost: $6,819,922 or $454.66 per truck (1/3 cent per mile), per year

* Assumptions: 15,000 trucks getting 6 MPG at

$3.25/gal, 125,000 miles/yr/truck

Under inflated tires waste over 5.4

million gallons of fuel everyday (over

2 billion gallons each year) in the

U.S. alone.

Page 10: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

Rule of thumb: 30% increase in tire wear when inflation is 20psi under target*

* TMC, RP #233 – Guidelines for Tire Inflation Pressure Maintenance

Page 11: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

‘Rule of thumb’: Just 10% under-inflation will reduce tire life by 11% 30% under-inflation will reduce tire life by 40%*

* TMC, RP #233 – Guidelines for Tire Inflation Pressure Maintenance

Page 12: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

With the make up of tire compounds today, spotting a tire low on pressure is much more difficult. A vehicle withjust one tire under-inflated by 10% can reduce the life of the tire by thousands of miles and can increase the vehicle's

fuel consumption by up to 3%. 5psi difference in tire pressures

on a set of duals results in a 5/16” diameter difference

Larger tire will drag the smaller tire, both tires suffer increased tread wear and fuel economy decreases

5/16” difference causes the smaller tire to be drug 13 feet every mile

Assumptions: Tire diameter: 36”

Can you easily identify which tire is 30% underinflated?

Tough to tell: isn’t it? Tire pressure must be checked with a quality air gauge as the inflation

pressure can not be accurately estimated through visual inspection.

Page 13: GO Green Fleet Solutions Pressure Pro

Road Calls for Tire Repair/ChangeImproper inflation is responsible for approximately 1 road call per year, per truck, thanks to prematurely weakened and worn tires.

▪ Cost of service truck - $190 + $1/mile▪ Cost of tire: $175 - $525▪ Cost of wheel: / $150 to $300 ▪ Cost of driver time▪ Cost of delayed shipment

Average cost for a single roadside repair:

$700 to $900

GE: GE‘S PPM rate is less than 1PPM approaching 0 PPM over the last 4 years. GE ships in excess of 3 million of these

die & packaged die/year for TPMS (also used in other similar applications). Once the wafers are processed and tested (there is usually a yield fall out at this step) the "die is set".  Only poor handling creates problems from this stage on. If we are selling the product as a "packaged" product such as the NPP301, they are all 100% tested at 2-3 different pressure & temperatures at the end of our production line.  This is after previous tests for wire bond integrity and adhesion to the substrate.
