LENTEN RICE BOWL We prayed, fasted and gave alms—and now we celebrate! Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl ends in our own hearts, where Jesus reigns forever. Let us rejoice in our risen Lord—and in the lives we’ve changed this Lent in Colombia, Laos, Rwanda, Honduras, Madagascar and all over the world! Don’t forget to turn in your CRS Rice Bowl at church. Thank you !!

He has Risen! Alleluia, Alleluia!

Easter is the season of New Life. In this time of the year in our area of the world we see new life springing forth from the cold tomb of winter as flowers bud through the reawakened earth. We see the birds returning from their south-ern sojourn to build their nests; we see the lambs and other new born animals nursing at their mother’s side. The signs of new life are all around us! The greatest signs of new life of this Easter Season hopefully are experienced within us! Jesus has died and is risen to give us new life! A new life that He wants us to experience each day as we live with Him here on earth and as we journey to live with Him eternally in heaven. The gift of the Holy Spirit that Jesus has given us through His death and resurrection is the ever abiding gift of God’s presence that helps us to experience new life and become new creations in Christ.

Leading up to Easter, many of you made decisions to spend extra time in prayer, or to do acts of charity, fast-ing, and almsgiving to help you to grow in the holiness of the Lord. I encourage you to continue to make a special effort to practice your faith in ways that will help you to grow in the grace of the Risen Lord and to be of service to one anoth-er. The new life of the waters of Baptism and grace of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation are the beginning of our newness in life in God’s love. But, God calls us each day to foster the precious gift we have received. During the Easter season I pray that the gift of the Holy Spirit that you have received through baptism may empower you to live as new creations in the Lord. I encourage you to pray each day that the Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you that you may see more clearly the ways God is forming you anew in His love.

For the Easter season we have available in our churches copies of “The Little White Book” that contain six-minute reflections on the weekday Gospels of Easter. These booklets are designed to assist you in your daily prayer life. They are similar to the booklets that we have had for the seasons of Advent and Lent.

On Sunday, April 17th, Bishop Salvatore Matano will be coming to our parish to celebrate Sunday Mass. It will

be the Fourth Sunday of Easter, which is often called Good Shepherd Sunday because the gospel of the day makes reference to Jesus as the Good Shepherd. A special Mass will be celebrated that day with Bishop Matano. The Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, Moravia at10:00a.m. followed by a reception.

This will be the only Mass celebrated on Sunday, April 17 in our parish and will be for all the parishioners of

Good Shepherd Catholic Community. So please mark your calendars for this special parish event. While the regular Sunday Masses will be cancelled, we will be having a Mass Saturday evening at St. Michael Church in Union Springs at 5:00 p.m. for those who cannot attend on Sunday. I hope that most of you though will be able to gather as a parish community with the Bishop on Good Shepherd Sunday.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the musicians, various liturgical ministers and all those who helped with the Holy Week services and the decorating of the churches for this holy season. Your commitment and willingness to share your talents is greatly appreciated. From the staff of Good Shepherd Catholic Community, may you and your families be filled with Easter joy, and experience the grace of the Risen Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit helping you to become new creations in Christ.

May the Risen Christ be with you. Happy Easter!

Father Bill

Prayer for Easter Dear Lord, God of our creation, on this Easter morning, your son Jesus rose from the dead. In doing so, he conquered Death, the wage for all sin. Grant that on this Easter Morning we will remember the hope we have; in the resurrection and the hope we have of being with you and our loved ones for all eternity. Remind us always of the hope we have in the face of every trial and tribulation. Help us always to look to the victory which Christ purchased for us by his blood and completed at the rising. Amen.
