Yaama,

It has been another great fortnight here at Goodooga Central. Our students are to be commended for how wonderful their uniform and attendance has been this term. During the past month I have not spotted one student out of uniform and the schools attendance rate has been 96%. This is a fantastic achievement. I would like to remind parents and carers though, to please contact the school if your child is away at your earliest convenience. I hope to see you in and around the school over the last few weeks of school.

Harmony Day

Monday 21st March is Harmony Day. To celebrate Goodooga Central School will be holding a number of events with an emphasis on bringing our community together. There is a flyer attached to this newsletter providing more information. Briefly, the day will involve:

Community Meeting (12:40 PM)

Community Afternoon Tea (1:40 PM)

Mural Collaboration (2:00 PM)

Please read the flyer and contact me at the school if you require any more information.

Narran Lakes

All Goodooga Central School students will be visiting the Narran Lakes on Wednesday 23rd March. This is a tremendous opportunity for our staff and students to connect with a place of high cultural significance. We are also in the position of offering transport to and from the Lakes for community members. If you would like to attend, please contact Tania Kennedy at the school.

Student Achievement

I can safely say that all students at Goodooga Central should feel proud of their achievements during the term. I have had the pleasure of watching students’ progress with their learning at a rapid rate across all sections of the school. What is particularly satisfying is the growth in independence and stamina from our students. Having the ability to work independently for a sustained period of time is an important skill in any work place and in tertiary education. One student who has stood out in this area over recent weeks is Tamika Woods. Tamika is studying a TAFE course in Health Services which requires sustained independent effort to study the course material. To date she has handled any challenges in a mature and dedicated fashion. The entire school community wishes Tamika the best of luck in her pursuits.

Welcome! 5/6 have begun the year with great enthusiasm. We have been developing our read out loud techniques as we explore character representations from, “The Bad Guys 1 & 2”.

In Art & Science we have been exploring the Micro World. Through the microscope we have been viewing interesting bacteria, flea legs and other small microscopic organisms.

We’ve been working together, experimenting and having lots of fun as we explore yeast & mould.

5/6 PE Our PE day has changed to Monday afternoon. We are doing tennis! While the weather is still warm we will be swimming too. Please remember to bring your swimmers. Sport is still at the same time on Friday. Don’t forget your swimming gear!
