Oliver J. Bell is CEO of Oliver Bell, Inc., which is a consulting firm that emphasizes teaching and developing leadership skills and values direct relationships between employees and employers. He has worked with union and union-free companies with operations in North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Bell is also founder of the Texas Labor & Employee Relations Consortium which consists of over 200 corporate members that meet to discuss corporate leadership issues in operations, labor relations, and human resources. Prior to founding his firm, he served as vice president of a large labor relations consulting organization and preceding that worked for Mobil Oil’s human resources group. Bell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, Society of Human Resource Management, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment Association, Association of the United States Army, US Army Historical Society and Board of Directors of the West Point Society of Greater Houston. He is also a past member of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boulé) and the Knights of Peter Claver. Upon receiving a gubernatorial appointment, Bell previously served as the Chairman of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice and Chairman of the Windham School District Board of Trustees. Bell is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and was an Airborne-Ranger qualified Army officer. Governor Abbott Appoints Bell to Texas Southern

University Board of Regents

Governor Gregg Abbott has appointed Oliver Bell of Houston to

the Texas Southern University Board of Regents for a term set to

expire February 1, 2017.

TSU Hosts Public Servant Night

Free Football Game for All Public

Servants

Texas Southern University will be hosting its first ever Public

Servant Night when the Tigers host Alabama State on Thursday,

October 1 at 6:30 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium. All active

and retired public servants including fire fighters, law

enforcement officers, members of the military, city and county

employees, and employees from local area school districts will

all be allowed complimentary admission into the game.

Upon presentation of the proper I.D. at the stadium ticket

office on game night, these individuals will be allowed one

general admission complimentary ticket into the game. If the

public servant is accompanied by a guest, they will be able to

purchase a discounted ticket for $5. All remaining general

admission tickets will be discounted from $18 to $10.Tickets for

reserved seating is available from $25 to $53.

“This is just a small way for TSU to honor our public servants

for their service they provide and the many challenges they face

on our behalf each and every day in our community. We want to

give back to those who dedicate their lives to public service,”

said TSU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Charles

McClelland. “What better way of showing our appreciation than

by allowing them to get into a game at no cost. These

individuals deserve our appreciation, not just on October 1, but

throughout the entire year.”

Tiger Career Fair 2015

TSU’s Office of Career Services will host their annual Tiger Career Fair

Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Student Recreation

Center. Students attending must be dressed in professional business attire, possess

copies of their resume and present their student identification.

There will be over 60 employers including: Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas,

Department of Justice, ABC 13, CVS Health, Geico Insurance, PLS Logistic

Services, and many more.

Our job as career services professionals is to get students to think “outside of the

box” as it relates to career options, says Antoinette Roberson, director of Career

Services. “For example, school districts don’t just hire teachers. They hire engineers,

scientists, lawyers, public administrators, communication specialists, just to name a

few. Students and alumni from all majors are going to be amazed at the number of

career opportunities available at the 2015 TSU Tiger Career Fair. Visit our website at
