Welcome to our 4th Annual Bull and Heifer Sale. First we’d like to thank all the people that have made the past sales a success. Desertland and Mud Butte, our bull sale partners, and all the people at Dryland Trading that make sale day run smoothly. Most of all we’d like to thank so very much the people that have supported, bid, and bought the bulls and heifers from our program. All the animals have been Ivomeced and double vaccinated with FP5 one shot and 7-Way. The bulls will be double vaccinated with a foot rot vaccine prior to the sale. The bulls have been limit fed a low starch pellet from Masterfeeds mixed with silage. They have also had free choice hay and mineral tubs. Again this year our offering is a good group of very quiet, stout, hairy and good-footed animals. The bulls range from power bulls that will add growth and performance to calving ease bulls that add style, milk and consistency. The heifers on offer are very consistent in quality and type and are the top end. We welcome and encourage you to come and view the bulls and heifers anytime at the farm prior to March 19th, or at Veteran Sunday March 20th.

Welcome to the 4th Annual Grassroots Bull Sale. It has been another exciting year in the cattle business, with prices staying very good. This year’s sale consists of a group of bulls we are proud to offer. There is French influence, polled, horned, red factor, yearlings, and two year old bulls. We concentrate on breeding for calving ease, docility, hair, and structure soundness. Our focus is to provide long lasting, low maintenance bulls that can work for our buyer’s herd. The bulls are on the Pfizer Total Herd Health program. They are Ivomec’d in November and February. We pail feed them twice a day a pellet/barley ration, and tub grind hay, green feed, and straw which is fed free choice. This year we have selected some open breeding heifers to put in the sale as well. They are all home raised heifers with no brands. They are on the Pfizer program as well. They have had no implants! At this time I would like to thank all of the buyers and bidders from the last year’s bull sale. Last year was our first year selling in the Grassroots Bull Sale and was a huge success, and we are really looking forward to this year. This bull has always been one of my favorites in the pen. He comes from a first calver. This cow was Hannah’s spare 4H heifer, and she has a very gentle disposition. Carson is a bull that has some real performance. When you look through the pen you wouldn’t pick him out as a April 2 calf. The 163Y cow is a full French cow. Blaine Roth purchased the bull off this cow in last year’s sale.

Clyde can’t help but catch your eye when walking by. He is a very eye appealing bull with great side profile and naturally thick across the top. Desertland Heifers

This year we have decided to offer our red replacement heifers in the sale. They are all home raised heifers, off moderate framed, easy keeping cows with good udders. They have all been palpated, and up to date on all their shots. The heifers are April born, weaned in November, and backgrounded here at home. I know these heifers will grow up to be good cows that will go out and do their job.

These two bulls are very obvious twins. If u were to take their tags out I’m not sure if you could tell them apart. This would be a great opportunity to buy two very similar bulls to make uniformity in your calves. Their mom came from one of the great cows we selected from the Sharp Hills Charolais when they sold their cow herd.

9 Red Heifers


If you would have ever asked me if I would be selling horses in my bull sale someday I would have given you a “NO”. But guess what? I do have to say these ponies are pretty special to my three girls. They play hours on end, having horse shows, rodeos, and pretending they are trick riders. I think this is great. The girls feed them without ever asking them twice. But over the last few years we have developed a “herd”, so the girls have agreed to sell there 2015 colts, to make room for the 2016 babies. They are all halter broke and have had lots of attention. The ponies are very

willing to learn and become a kid’s best friend. The colts on offer are all sired by the same stud “Cookie Dough”. He is a spotted Appaloosa. In the pictures the ponies are not showing a lot of spots yet, but I’m sure as they shed off their winter coat, there should be some spots. There’s one filly “Sparkle”, and two stud colts, “King & Moon” being offered. If you purchase a pony or “ponies” don’t feel you have to take them home sale day. We will bring them home until you have a pen built, and can deliver them as well. If your child would like some help on getting started I am sure the girls would be glad to share their expertise. If you have any questions on the ponies, please feel free to call.

Terms: The terms of this sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.Bid: Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.Disputes: In some cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneers decision in such matters will be final.Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.Announcements: Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Bidders are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.Certificate of Registry: The proper Registration or Recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after the settlement has been made.Breeder’s Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that the semen collected from the bull will be suitable for artificial insemination. Heifers: All have been palpated and guaranteed open and in good health by a local veterinarian.Should any bull fail to be a satisfactory breeder, he will be replaced with a bull of equal value and performance level. Should this not be possible, a credit toward the purchase of another bull will be awarded. All warranty and responsibility is limited to replacement of the bull in question and is acknowledged by the buyer as a condition of sale.Exception to Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subject to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.Bull Semen Retention: All consignors reserve the right to collect semen on any bull sold for in herd use. This semen will be collected at the buyer’s convenience and at the seller’s expense.Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, AI, signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc. will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal a breeder, then said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to so prove the animal is a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement, F.O.B. the ranch or the refund of the actual price. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Should a dispute over the quality of a replacement animal, the Sales Management will appoint a mediator.Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, Auctioneer, or Sellers assume any responsibility in this manner and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of the accident or loss of property.Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and equally binding to both.
