Why Changsha?

Changsha is the capital city of Hunan, a province of south-central China, located on the lower reaches of Xiang river, a branch of the Yangtze River. Its municipality covers an area of 11,819 sq. kilometers and has a population of 6,017,600 (2003 intercensal estimate), the urbanized area has around 2.7 million people.

Changsha is known as the “star city” and enjoys the reputations of "The Entertainment and Consumption Capital of China. It is selected as the 2008 Happiest City of Mainland of China, and the “National Forest City” by the China Forestry Bureau in 2006.

Bars Various bars are located in the center of Changsha, mainly along the Jiefangxi road. They are the symbol of Changsha’s entertainment. Most young people choose the bars as places to relax and chat with friends. In Changsha, the bars generally divided into 3 types.

Firework Changsha is the romantic city. Every Saturday Changsha city will create free large-scale firework for Changsha citizens .The beautiful and amazing firework is the only big entertainment which is free showed to citizens in China.

TV With its many TV stations producing some of the most popular programs in China, including Super Girl, a Chinese female version of the UK Pop Idol or American Idol that is the most watched program ever to air on Chinese TV. These programs have also brought a different entertainment industry, including singing bars, dance clubs, theater shows, as well as related businesses like hair salons, fashion stores, and hot spicy snacks at night(esp. in the summer time).

Entertainment culture

Changsha-based huagu opera Changsha huagu opera originated from folk songs and dance and underwent a three-stage development course. It is a small folk drama, used to be popular in 12 counties under the ancient Changsha administration, with Changsha official dialect serving as the stage language.

Hunan puppet and shadow shows They were popular in rural and urban areas as early as the

Tang and Song dynasties. The Hunan Provincial Puppet and Shadow Art Theater, founded in 1956, performed for many

Chinese state leaders such as Mao Zedong Zhou Enlai, Dong Biwu, He Long and Chen Yi, as well as some foreign

state leaders. It has visited and given performances in over 20 countries and regions including the Democratic People's

Republic of Korea, the former Soviet Union, France, Germany, Japan and the United States. The Puppet and

shadow shows performed by the theater, having a distinctive artistic style, are known to the world for steady

and precise manipulation, exquisite and lifelike performance.

What is Green Map?

What is a Green Map? It’s a locally created map that uses globally designed Green Map Icons to chart.

History of Green Map New York City always had a few green spots, local food and mobilityoptions, but they were not part of people’s perception of the city.The original Green Apple Map of NYC in 1992 helped people see andconnect with the city, its environment and sustainable living resources

Green Map Achievement? Engaging 715 communities in 55 countries, more than 550 published Green Maps are already being utilized by millions of people.

1.Explore the old Changsha's humanity to understand and protect them/Explore Changsha city by bicycle to promote the low carbon living style(It's up to your group divided)； 2,Organize "Old City Global villiage" or "Green Sharing"with citizens； 3,Collect the story of Green Sharing/Make the photography and mini movie of our exploration Changsha city and the interest citizens； 4,Make energy/humanity Green Map； 5,Organize promotion activity in coffee shop； 6,Design Courses and activities for Summer Camp(summer camp is for high school students)； 7,Organize a seminar to make a platform for the communication between company,NGO and young people；

Green Map movement in order to make a better city, better China together. You can make an amazing Green Map to let China know the China in your eyes and

promote sustainable living to Chinese people.

Take action & To create You can have over 2 weeks to get along with Chinese high school students and give them

a life-changing experience. You can contact with NGO, Company in China and make a conference to drive global

youth innovation and social enterprise

Friendship & Culture experience You will have a host family to know traditional China daily life. You will have 2 buddies to help you live and play in Changsha.
