Official Minutes of the November 2015 Dutchess County Dental Society Executive Board Meeting
The Executive Board of the Dutchess County Dental Society met on November 10th, 2015 at J Dominick’s Restaurant in Poughkeepsie, New York. Board members present were: Drs. Angiolillo, Baum, Miller, Costello, Kaplan, Kroboth, Paunovic, Prunty, Riggins, Rosenbloom, Smith, and Walters. Call to order at 6:43pm The October 2015 Executive board minutes were accepted. President’s Report: Dr. Riggins welcomed the group. He reported that we received a thank you letter from MSKH regarding our donation in memory of Dr. Gabrielle. Secretary`s Report: Dr. Schwartz was not present but his absentee report noted that he will need more information about upcoming lectures for the ninth district bulletin. Dr. Schwartz has sent welcome letters to our newest members, Dr. Mary Costigan and Dr. Kristen Vilardi-Shanley. Treasurer Report: Dr. Rosenbloom notes that while we still have more than sufficient funds in our accounts for our opera-tions, we did operate at a significant loss last year. We have less bulletin advertisers, but because the bulletin has no cost asso-ciated with it, this is not as much of an issue as in the past. The Board voted to keep the price of an ad in the Bulletin at the same price as last year. The Board, after evaluating this year’s meal costs, also decided to raise the cost of the season ticket, which was $125, to $150, which includes 10 meals and a total of 20 CEs. The cost of the staff season ticket will also be raised $25 to $275. The goal this year for the All Day Seminar is to be profitable such that we may continue our low dues, generous subsidies and local charitable contributions. Membership Report: Dr. Smith reported that we have no new members to vote on. There was more discussion about the fact that the DCDS is now permitted to include 20% of it’s members as non-ADA members. Dr. Smith made a motion that was accepted by the board that the DCDS allow “New and Younger Dentists”, defined by the ADA as dentists who have been in practice 10 or less years, a 3 year period to be our member without being a member of tripartite dentistry. Our goal would be to encourage new members who are worried about the cost of joining organized dentistry to see what it has to offer. Bulletin Committee: Dr. Prunty informed the board the deadline for the next Bulletin is November 18th. Program Committee: Dr. Paunovic has all speakers set through February. Steward’s Report: Dr. Kroboth reports that all locations are set through January. A/V Committee: All equipment is in good working condition. All-Day Committee: Dr. Smith reported that the Grandview is Secured. The meeting is set for April 6th, 8-5. Dutchess County Players: The next performance is at St. Dennis with 120 students. Dr. Baum has submitted an article to the 9th District about the DCDS Players. Website Committee: Dr. Kroboth reports the website is up-to-date. Ninth District Board of Governors: Dr. Miller reports the construction of ninth district headquarters is officially complete. The current membership is 1,486, down 37 members since last year. Dutchess County Dental Society’s own Dr. Vigliotti is being sworn in as president of the ninth district this month. Meeting adjourned at 8:07pm
