H3C iMC Intelligent Analysis Report (iAR) Component

Overview

In the rapidly developed network era, the information system is widely

used because of its combination with services to produce large

economic returns. With the continuous improvement of information

construction hierarchy, the enhancement of integrating IT with services

is not just a slogan for IT managers in many enterprises. This requires

that the IT management system is developed towards the refined and

diversified operation. To speak radically, the IT management system

completes the following operations: Collecting the underlying network

data, then analyzing the collected network data to generate the

information, and finally presenting the information to an IT manager in

many forms such as reports, diagrams, or alarms. The information

presentation capability is so important that this capability becomes an

index to judge whether an IT management system is good or bad;

therefore, the H3C intelligent management center (iMC) specially

promotes a powerful

report analysis and

design tool.

The iMC takes a service

service process module

as the core, and uses

the service-oriented

architecture (SOA)

design concept and the

componentized

structure of assembly

as required to help a

customer implement the

end-to-end refined

management of network

services. The iMC intelligent analysis report (iAR) system, serving as

an important part of the H3C IToIP solution, is composed of the iMC

report platform and the report designer. The iMC iAR system helps an

IT manager clearly understand the condition of services, resources,

and users in the current IT environment in detail and provides sufficient

basis safeguard and decision support for the IT manager through

intelligent analysis, report data mining, and personalized presentation.

Same as the iMC platform, the iAR is a pure B/S architecture

application. The iAR integrates report analysis and report presentation

with the iMC seamlessly to implement the data extraction, data

conversion, and data presentation functions and provide a What You

See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) effective report system solution.

With the iAR, a simple report can be created easily. In addition, the iAR

has a set of tools for generating complex reports or special reports to

meet the requirements of users in each industry to customize reports

and the development requirements of the iMC professional report

design personnel.

♦ Rich and beautiful report style: Includes the common row and

column reports, parent/child reports, diagram summary reports,

cross reports, and TopN and Bottom N reports. The

formula-based lively header and footer can be added for a report.

♦ Localized Chinese-style report: Provides more than 20 types of

charts, including the bar chart, pie chart, curve chart, Gantt chart,

area chart, doughnut chart, 3D ladder diagram, 3D surface chart,

XY scatter chart, radar chart, bubble chart, stock chart, and

funnel chart, to fully conform to the use habits of Chinese people.

♦ Professional and intelligent wizard and expert: Uses the iAR

wizard function to further select and set the overall format of a

report and a link-related database report, and select the records

and groups to be included in the report. The iAR expert function

can be enabled to help you fulfill the tasks to be executed after

creating a report, for example, selecting a record, creating a

group and an application template. The wizard and expert

functions guide a user to expend the least effort to complete the

complex processes such as selection, sorting, grouping,

summarization, and format setting.

♦ Expandable programmable capability: The iAR provides formula

language support. When creating a formula, a user can select the

crystal syntax or basic syntax. The user can easily customize

functions and enrich the contents of a report. The diversified

formula languages are available for more than 160 built-in

functional modules and functions. In addition, a user can compile

the SQL statements or SQL storage processes on the iAR

platform by himself to return a specific data set to a design report.

Flexible and diversified file export format

A user can directly print or fax a report or export the report. The export

formats supported by the iAR are classified into the page-based format

and record-based format, such as RPT (iAR built-in), Microsoft Word

(RTF), Microsoft Excel, HTML, PDF, XML, CSV, and TXT. The report

data can be exported into any database compatible with open database

connectivity (ODBC) in the ODBC format.

A document can be exported to different media, including the

application, disk file, Microsoft Exchange folder, Lotus Domino, MAPI

(Microsoft Mail), and ODBC data source.

Efficient and convenient report management

The iAR report management function is modular. Through a report

template, a designed report can be publicized to the iMC system for

browsing and viewing. The report template can be publicized, modified,

and deleted. With a publicized report template, a user can customize

the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-year, and annual reports, set

the start time, expiration time, and report generation format of a

periodical report, generate a report at definite times, and then send the

report to a designated Email address. Specially, a user can integrate

his or her organization name and Logo into a publicized report.
