The party members demonstrated their concerns by picketing outside the ministry’s offices holding placards which said more than enough about their intentions. The demonstration was led by DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane who handed over the memorandum of demands and he was joined by Shadow Minister for Public Enterprise, Natasha Mazzone, shadow minister for Energy, Gordon Mackay and the Gauteng Provincial Chairperson, Solly Msimanga. Mzwandile Radebe received the memorandum on behalf of the Public Enterprise Department as acting Chief Operations Officer (COO) The DA has requested the minister of Public Enterprise Lynne Brown to take an immediate action to act on Eskom’s request to increase electricity tariffs by 25, 3%. “We are here to tell the Minister that we are against the proposed tariff hikes by eskom which are far above inflation,” said Maimane. The Democratic Alliance said it has recently confirmed that Eskom is in the process of applying to reopen the electricity tariff determination process, this time requesting a massive 25.3% tariff increase. “The end result is that South Africans are being increasingly squeezed to make up for an ineffective and corrupt government and its parastatals,”Maimane addressed the crowd. The demands which theDA gave to the Minister should be implemented as a matter of urgency which includes to Prevent Eskom from exploiting South Africans through above-inflation tariff request. “Stop the payment of exorbitant salaries and bonuses to Eskom executives, Make the procurement processes for diesel and coal transparent to minimise corruption and wasteful expenditure, Make detailed maintenance reports public and establish tangible key performance indicators (KPIs) for managers and Launch an independent inquiry into the mismanagement of Eskom”. These are some of the demands listed in the DA memorandum issued to Department of Public Enterprise on the day in question. “Energy is the life blood of our economy. As long as this crisis continues our economy will not proposer. We will not see an increase in jobs and we will not be closer to tackling poverty in our country,” explained Maimane. The DA believes that increasing the price of electricity so dramatically only serves to add insult to injury to consumers and the economy, who are already suffering from the effects of load shedding. The party has also called on Minister Brown to act decisively on the matter and implement the demands of the DA for the sake of all South Africans. One party member Brownyin Engelbrecht told Hammanskraal News that part of their demonstration is to protect South African citizens against the proposed Eskom tariff hikes which are very high. “Most of the South Africans are unemployed so if the department considers Eskom’s proposition, most of the people in this country won’t be able to live accordingly. Engelbrecht has called on the department to adhere to her party’s request regarding all Eskom issues. A WOMAN MADE PREGNANT BY A BEN TENBy Sebushane MoobiHammanskraal News came across a lady in Walman village (Syferskuil D) near Radium where an 18 years old boy is involved. Rebone Thati (54)(pseudonym) said that young boys are mostly the best in bed for elderly women in extramarital relationships. She explained that the Ben Ten, as they are commonly known became a common thing in her life and that the boy enjoyed some privileges from this relationship with her. She said that the relationship with her husband was on the rocks and went for a divorce. She is presently pregnant with the Ben Ten’s baby

and feels real bad to go for abortion. The lady told Hammanskraal News that she enjoyed every minute of her time with the young boy (and does grade 12 at a nearby town). Thati said that she gave the boy (her ben ten) a R2000,00 allowance every month. She said that he uses the allowance to purchase clothes, for transport and shares some of it to help his parental home to purchase food. The lass outlined that she met the ben ten at Jubilee mall. Thati said that they outlined their relationship details as well as the dos and don’ts. She stated that they agreed to not

to meet at the lady’s house or his home since the sugar mama is even older than his own mother and would always use some of the B & B outlets. Thati said that they meet three or four times a week in different outlets to avoid being traced. She also told Hammanskraal News that she assists him with his school work. On the other hand, Thati bragged that she treated the boy like a king and that she also promised him a driver’ license

“if” he behaves himself. Her husband Phillip confirmed the relationship and swore that he moved out of the house before filing for divorce. He assured Hammanskraal News that he would never go to a house where a boy as old as his son sleeps with his wife. The ben ten laughed that though he is at high school, the lady buys him expensive jewelry and clothes. Jacob (pseudonym and the Ben ten) also mentioned that he has an allowance whereby he can use the lady’s account at one of the stores to buy clothes.Asked if his girlfriend is in the know of the status quo, he laughingly responded that she is fully aware and she fully acknowledges the relationship. Jacob concluded that the woman’s husband did not know of the “roll on or makhwapheni” thing between the Ben ten (Jacob) and his wife until she fell pregnant. He opened up to Hammanskraal News that it turned out very sour when the man came to know of the pregnancy. At the time of going to print, the two former couples have since moved separate ways. On the other hand, the husband, Phillip had filed for divorce. Mavis Mokgethi, a local municipal advisor said that women and men in such youthful relationships do not respect their marriages. She went further to say that she never gets involved in any extra marital affairs even if it meant earning a million rand for that. She explained that it is not all about money in a relationship with her, but all for love and care. She added that being in such relationship means that the younger one (be it a boy or a girl) is experimenting with an older person. She questioned what happens when the two

get into bed with an age difference of 25 or 30 years. She further said that such women do not respect their bodies and belittle their husbands.Mavis relayed that such people are susceptible to infection. She said that she wondered what the sugar mama would say to her husband if she contracted a sexually transmitted infection. She stated again that it would be a shameful situation for both the man and may also contribute to the ever rising divorces. She concluded that the children in the said family would be shamed by the behavior of their parent(s) in such relationships.

People seem to think that the 10111 po-lice emergency number is a general pub-lic inquiry service hotline. They think that it will be easy for SAPS to fi nd a long lost lover or estranged family mem-ber by making a false report of a missing person.According to Captain Piet Rossouw, Com-munication Offi cer of Vosloorus Police Sta-tion, however, “It puts a tremendous work-load and cost on the police to attend to hoax calls and reports. The police appeals to the community to refrain from doing hoaxes as they will be liable to prosecution when caught.”He said in the police’s 2013/14 report ta-bled in Parliament, which covers the period from April 2013 to the end of March 2014, just over two-thirds of the 7 648 975 calls to 10111 were hoaxes, nuisance and abusive calls or enquiries about personal or service delivery matters. Rossouw said only about 32.1 percent (2 456 187) were police-relat-ed.Although the overall number of 10111 calls declined by almost one-and-a-half million from 9 122 688, the percentage of po-lice-related calls increased from 29 percent in 2012/13.Rossouw says there are 22 10111 call cen-tres countrywide connecting 475 police sta-tions to the emergency response system and there are 1 137 police stations. To com-municate directly with the people and their own employees, the police record an aver-age of 200 Tweets a month, do 1 671 public education and awareness campaigns, and make 34 episodes of the When Duty Calls television series.

NO LEARNERS MUST BE ALLOWED IN THE TAVERNSBENNY B MALULEKA SEBUSHANE MOOBI

Most learners have made it a norm to celebrate completion of exams by drinking alcohol some calling it pen’s down. However Concerned Tshwane Liquor Traders (CTLT) which represents taverns and shebeens in around Tshwane swore that the trend will no longer be tolerated. Mthombeni said this during the organization’s substance abuse awareness campaign when visiting two primary schools in Hammanskraal. He advised learners to refuse being sent to taverns or shebeens to buy alcohol and told them to report it immediately if their family members assault them. “We as the liquor traders we need to provide services with responsibility we don’t want to see minors or uniformed learners in places where alcohol is sold” he said. The campaign started in the morning during assembly at Molefe Mooke primary school at Dilopye which was also attended by members of CTLT. Mthombeni stressed that as the organization they will no longer allow children’s rights to be trampled by alcohol. “We want learners to focus on their studies not being disturbed by being sent for beers or cigarettes” emphasized him. Mthombeni warned liquor traders who continue to provide service to minors or learners that they will clamp down on them and they stand to lose their operational licenses. As members of CTLT we are saying that no learners must be allowed in the taverns emphasized him.Magdeline Thobejane principal of Molefe Mooke told Hammanskraal News that as a school they really appreciate what CTLT is doing because that shows that they care about education and the community.

Thobejane further said that she hope such programme could continue to other schools because it could assist the learners. “We are looking forward in inviting CTLT in our parents’ meeting so that they can also talk to the parents of the learners because during presentation some of learners said that indeed their family members sent them to taverns to buy them alcohol” she said. The second school that received presentation was Phalesane Primary school in Suurman. Mthombeni told learners that some of the reasons some minors consume alcohol is because they have always been sent to taverns or shebeens while they are still young and they see alcohol as a good thing. “Parents need to play an important role in insuring that teenagers consume alcohol at a proper age by not allowing them to go to taverns” elaborated him.Phalesane Principal Mmiha Manne told Hammanskraal News that he is very happy and thankful about the presentation because it will teach learners about the danger of alcohol. “Presentation also prepares learners for a better future because some alcohol abusers end up being bad people in the community or society by doing crimes” explained Manne. He further said that members of CTLT have really shown the learners that they also want to see them (learners) having a better future by focusing on their education. Manne advises learners to stop alcohol and drug abuse because they might destroy their future. We are very thankful that CTLT have really shown that they care about education of our learners besides being liquor traders said Manne.Chairperson of Hammanskraal CTLT Michael ‘Bro Biza’ Ledwaba told Hammanskraal News that they intend conducting presentations at middle and high schools because it’s where most of the learners consume alcohol as they are at adolescent stage. “As liquor traders we are concerned about the future of our learners because their parents are our customers so we must insure they solemnly focuses on their education” said him. Ledwaba said that alcohol is not for the children they must enjoy their childhood and be children.

Tshedimosetso (Information) called on the residents of Marokolong to use its resources without fear. The latter was voiced at a gathering that was intended at informing the community that it is an asset worth using. This institution works in conjunction with the Department of social development. Tshedimosetso was started in 2008 to help the community for without any charged. The institution renders service in social services as well as assisting the community with basics like intervention in business related matters. She urged the attendants to use services of her department for referrals. She further said that drug and substance abuse are a thorn in the flesh for her departmental section.Mrs. Manganyi stated that some drug abusers can be helped upon their choice to quit. She added that such persons can be referred to a rehabilitation Centre in Cullinan. She relayed that involuntary clients ( those that are reported to be more abusive) can be forced through the use of a court order. Manganyi urged the senior citizens to participate in active agent programs to stay fit. She relayed that disabilities should not be hidden and such people should be brought forward for help. “Gone are those days when the disabled and the crippled used to be

locked away from the public eye,” she said. She said that disability is nobody’s fault and that it is everyone’s responsibility to give a helping hand. The institution board Chair person, Mr. Malatsi said that the main idea in the formation of Tshedimosetso was to fight poverty. She added that the office of the Premier as well as an American Embassy helped in the development. He said that their dream does not end and that they are prepared to soldier on.Paul Khalo one of the tutors at the institution said that it is imperative for the local youth to turn challenges into positivity. He outlined that they also offer assistance with learnerships and vacancies. He urged members of the community to ask for help and that fear to ask for assistance is suicidal. Khalo further said that the institution also assists job mail from their library so that people do not have to part with money they do not have. He explained that to alleviate poverty, they always identify vulnerable families that cannot sustain themselves. He explained that Tshedimosetso donated seed to such families and they are assisted with food gardens.Khalo voiced that they also have awareness

programme where women are empowered through workshops. He emphasized that everything that the institution does for the community is absolutely free of charge. The lad stated that some primary school learners are helped with their homework in the afternoon. He relayed that the latter is done after they have been served lunch. He further explained that they also help with math sans science. Khalo further said that Tshedimosetso has a qualified social worker for professional counseling. Khalo stated that they also offer skills development that is accredited by the University of Pretoria; He added that they also offer computer training, courses on hospitality and tourism, communication and problem solving to the learners. Khalo explained that they also do job placement after training had been completed. Mrs. Winnie Molokomme, the project manager thanked the Department of Social Development that had previously donated R1, 125 396 for the financial year 2014. She added that other business also gave a helping hand in the construction of the shack that they use as a library. She further that the provincial office of the same department had given thumbs up to donate an undisclosed amount for the next financial year. It was explained that most of the money was used for maintenance as well as personnel salaries.

By BB MalulekaThere is an old say that there is no place like home however for the Tlhomelang family that seems not to be the case. This is after Hammanskraal News was told that there is a man who claimed to have bought their family house at an auction. According to Mmenyana Tlhomelang the man called *Nkitsing Makhabu came about fi ve years ago alleging that he have bought the house and sold it to another women, *Didi Baitsi. She said that that was when their troubles started as the two once came to their home ordering them to take their furnishers outside so that the man can renovate the house. “That day we were forced to share a mattress on the fl oor while our furnishers were damaged by the rain” said Mmenyana.Mmenyana told Hammanskraal News that they demanded the Makhabu to produce

documents to support his claims however he could not and that’s when he changed his statements saying he bought it at the bank. She said that they then enquired with Northwest Housing Co-Operation where they were told that the house was paid up in 2003 after our father David Tlhomelang passed away. Mmenyana said that they then went to court but later the case was withdrawn however the two kept coming to our home. When Hammanskraal News arrived at Tlhomelang family house some individuals who identifi ed themselves as messengers of sheriff accompanied by police demanded furnishers and family members to leave the house so that they could lock the gates. Mmenyana was served with eviction letter which some members of South African National Civic Organisation went to Moretele Magistrate Court as efforts to assist the family. Relationships naturally have to end up in marriages and happiness. The latter is a nightmare to a Carousel Lady who was involved in an upside down relationship. A man who is neither to be trusted nor be honored for the name (man) as she openly told Hammanskraal News. She got engaged from lies to lies as well as involvement with numerous other women.Refentse Nkgopole from Carousel View told Hammanskraal News that she was involved with a Joseph Nthomeng who was more than two timing. She said that he is a Casanova who promised marriage wherever he went. According to Refentse, they had been in a relationship for more than three years and did

not fi rst smell a rat. She relayed that the man got involved with his colleague and she noticed from numerous telephonic conversations. She explained that Joseph mostly told her that he was working nightshift when he slept over at another woman’s. Furthermore, Fentse, as she is commonly known, stated that her boyfriend went on to do the same thing until she reprimanded him even though she was just quite about it. She voiced that Joseph always denied even when she had all the proof of having seen him with the said lady. She lamented said that she insisted on her relationship [to work by bowing, trying to “worship” and cherish him to no avail. The lass said that the worst case scenario was when she saw the man with a school girl. She relayed that she confronted her and got sadder when the school girl bragged and boasted that no woman could match her. “He went further to deny and told me that I

did not trust him”, She stated in tears. Fentse Added that the girl was almost eighteen and presently in matric. She explained that her sadness was worsened by the girl’s statement that her boyfriend stayed at her home when

she thought he was working overtime and at that time she had banked her school day. Fentse then voiced that Joseph took her out to supper and proposed. She added that that was the same evening when he took to his knees for her hand in life and marriage which she accepted in the hope that everything will go well. “Wherever there is smoke, there is fi re,” Said Fentse. The lass advanced that her prospective husband did not go a long way with her after the vow that he took. She indicatedthat he went on to betray the relationship
