the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES). It has come into being via the Private
Universities Bill, 2009, passed by the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

Since its inception in 2000, the MBA program offered by the Amrut Mody
School of Management, Post Graduate Institute of Management (AMSoM-PGIM)
has evolved into a high quality, contemporary program that provides holistic
education to young students and prepares post-graduate professionals that are
competent and caring individuals ready to assume positions of responsibility in
the industry.
The program has been offered under the banner of Ahmedabad University since
2009. The increased autonomy has facilitated development of a program that is
contemporary in nature through a comprehensive revamp of the curriculum and
subsequent revisions to keep it up to date. Over the years, Ahmedabad
University has entered into arrangements with a number of international
partner institutions that include Cambridge University (JBS), Stanford University,
University of Valladolid (Spain), University of Ferrara (Italy) etc. that provide for
faculty visits, faculty exchange, joint projects etc. These tie-ups provide students ample
opportunities for international exposure.
The resources support provided at AMSoM-PGIM, and more generally by Ahmedabad
University and the schools efforts for achieving excellence have been recognized by the
Government of Gujarat. As a result the program has been exempt from the central
admission process of Gujarat state and AMSoM-PGIM has been permitted to develop and
follow its own admission processes targeting the best students both within and outside the
state, thereby improving significantly the quality of the classes entering the program. The
students also receive considerable support from the dedicated faculty at AMSoM-PGIM
not only in class, but outside the class room in a range of co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities.
The profile of the students provided in this brochure may not be comprehensive enough
to capture enough detail to describe the level of motivation, competence and
preparedness. However, I am confident that our graduating batch is ready to respond to
managerial challenges and responsibilities and meet your requirements.

Amrut Mody School of Management, Post Graduate Institute of Management (AMSoM-PGIM), (previously called AES Post Graduate
Institute of Management) was established in the year 2000 by the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES). Over the years, the Institute has
moved from strength to strength and has been amongst the top ranking management institutes in Gujarat. The Institute has received an
‘A’ accreditation by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The Government of Gujarat has granted the Institute to
admit students on its own and not through Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC). We understand the importance of
good inputs to reach to better outputs. For this, we follow a rigorous three stage admission process. Applicants shortlisted on CAT/ CMAT
scores are called for a round of group discussion and personal interview in front of a panel. Weights are also assigned for work experience
of the applicant. The Institute endeavours to achieve the transformation of graduates to professionals through proper blend of knowledge,
skills and attitude which is pertinent to the current industry requirement.

How do we make our students Industry Ready?
Our students are exposed to the challenging corporate world through various interactive activities and events throughout the course. This
intensive pedagogy makes them ready to face challenges in the ever changing corporate world.
To ensure the industry readiness of our students, we cover various packages like SPSS, AMOS, TORA, LISREL and R. Students are also given
various projects based on databases like CMIE Prowess, EBSCO, and Emerald etc.
Students are exposed to the real life problems and they work on providing practical solutions for them. Few of the courses where students
are required to work with various companies; be it a start-up or an NGO or a cooperative society are -

Each student is required to complete a summer internship of 6-8 weeks at the end of the first year of M.B.A. Though it is not a graded
course, the students are required to get a Satisfactory grade to be eligible to be promoted to the Second Year of M.B.A.
The Institute has formed various clubs which are managed by students to keep themselves updated about the current developments in
the corporate world. Knowledge Club, Finance Club, Marketing Club and HR Club are active clubs where interested students participate on
regular basis.

Under the aegis of AMSoM-PGIM Annual Lecture Series, we invite eminent personalities to interact with faculty members and students.
Mr. Keki Mistry, Vice Chairman and CEO, HDFC and Mr. Nasser Munjee, Chairman, Development Credit Bank (DCB Bank) have graced
such events.
Under the CEO Lecture Series our students get opportunity to interact and learn from CEOs of reputed companies. It uses a unique format
wherein the CEO engages the students into a dialogue through a case analysis. Shri M.V. Subbiah, Chairman, Murugappa Group; and
Mr. R. Joy Christian, Director, Impact HR Solutions have shared real life cases with our students.
To promote entrepreneurial spirit among the students, we invite entrepreneurs to share their experiences of their journey.
Mr. Vishal Mehta, Founder & CEO, Infibeam was the first speaker in the series.
The Institute organises one-day management conclaves for finance, marketing, HR and entrepreneurship following different themes each
year. Various senior level executives as well as renowned academicians discuss variety of different issues and corporate practices through
panel discussions.
Ashmayu, the Entrepreneurship cell is a students’ body dedicated to promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among students of AMSoM-
PGIM, Ahmedabad University. This cell is active in organizing events, lectures, seminars and any such activities which encourages
entrepreneurship among the students. The cell has organized events in collaboration with NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network) and
KEIO University, Japan apart from many other institute and University level events.
AMSoM-PGIM annually organises an International Academic Conference under the banner of Ahmedabad University Conference in
Management (AUCOM) to bring together industry professionals and academicians on a common platform. The focus of the plenary and
technical sessions is management issues and concerns faced in contemporary times.

We regularly invite experts from academia as well as from industry to share their knowledge
and experience with the faculty and the students. This makes the students updated with the
ever changing corporate practices.
As part of the program as well as specific course requirements, students are taken for industrial
visits and field trips.
The aim is to provide a platform for knowledge dissemination among the students of various
peer B-Schools using the medium of summer internship projects carried out by 1st year M.B.A. ostudents. 361 is a flagship co-curricular activity at AMSoM-PGIM for the last 13 years.
Company based projects are integrated with various courses to make the students understand
about the real life situations and problems.
With the help of the inputs received from academia, industry and alumni, the courses are
reviewed every year while the curriculum revision takes place every three years.
A step in the direction of reducing the gap between academia and industry, we design and offer
company-based MDPs. These customised programs meet the specific needs of the organisation.
Our faculty members continuously try to integrate theoretical developments and dynamic
corporate environment through different open registration MDPs. These short duration
programs ensure that the executives acquire new skills and enhance their knowledge for
effective management.
A 1-year part-time diploma program is offered in general management to working executives. It
is a delicate blend of management concepts, practices and techniques. It enables participants to
secure a competitive edge at the work place.

ALUMNI MEET
WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL ACTIVITIES
Orientation week is an “acclimatization” period for the First Year
students of our M.B.A. program. During this week they are
introduced to the key facilities in the Institute and University.
They are familiarized with the system and processes which would
facilitate their learning at AMSoM-PGIM. The program activities
include Microlab, which is the ice- breaking session for the
students. The program briefing is done to orient them towards
the expectation and rules of the Institute. As most of the subjects
have case study based pedagogy, hence, case study workshop is
also conducted. They are also given hands-on training for the
use of certain software and databases like Prowess, EBSCO, and
Emerald.
The students of the Institute organise literary, academic and
cultural events under the aegis of Spandan every year by
providing a platform to portray their latent talent. It is a cultural
festival full of energy, enthusiasm, activities, rhythm, and fun.
Some of the literary and academic events are made open for
participation to students of peer institutions of repute whereas
the cultural and talent events are solely performed by the
Institute's students.
Alumni, our brand ambassadors, are the ones who represent us
in the industry. The Institute has a very active Alumni Relations
Cell. It arranges a meet every year which provides them a
platform for all the alumni to meet their batch mates and fellow
batch mates. They have fun enjoying movies, games and
interactive talks during such meets.
The Institute has an active Women Development Cell to promote
the well-being of female students, teaching and non-teaching
women staff of the Institute. Varied activities were conducted
during the year on issues relating to their health, personal
development and social level. Activities like blood donation
camp, Thalassemia screening, health check-up, various talks and
seminars relating to health, information on higher studies,
workshops on personal grooming, gender sensitization and a
workshop on self defense were organised for girl students during
the year. The Cell also has an anti narcotics club working with
Narcotics Control Bureau to combat the menace of drug abuse
on campus.
The University organises Youth Festival to show case the talent of
all students in extracurricular activities. The students at AMSoM-
PGIM participate enthusiastically in these activities. This ensures
all round development of students.
The students at AMSoM-PGIM actively engage in sports activities
at the Institute as well as at the University level. We are equipped
with various sports equipments. The students also have access to
the University sports complex. Students also participate in inter
college events and win laurels for the Institute.
ISRI is a project envisaged to make students aware of grass root
realities of people and communities belonging to the deprived,
marginalized and differently abled sections of the society. As a
part of ISRI, students get associated with any social or
development organization for two years as volunteers and spend
time with communities to understand their reality of life and also
to understand how one can respond to such realities. This helps
develop empathy, value orientation and citizenship among
students.

Set amidst an inspirational surrounding, the campus comprises of 8.5 acres of land at a prime location in the Ahmedabad city. AMSoM-
PGIM is perhaps the only Institute that has a dedicated campus for the M.B.A. program. It is an “Intelligent Campus” that promotes,
facilitates and creates an ambience for learning and industry interaction. Life on the campus is a journey which is a healthy mixture of
academic and non-academic learning, which is impaired through a proper blend of traditional and innovative pedagogies.
At AMSoM-PGIM class rooms morph into learning centres. They are designed as auditoriums, with step up seating to facilitate discussions
and accommodate a maximum of 75 students. They are furnished ergonomically and have a provision of sound acoustics. They are
equipped with wireless connectivity, LCD projectors and multi-media tools.

THE COMPUTER CENTRE
The computer centre extends state-of-the-art facilities to all the users. It provides centralized computing facilities to meet the current and
future needs which fulfil the requirement of all the academic activities and functions of the Institute. The hardware and software are
constantly being upgraded to meet the latest international standards. The computer centre is supported by IBM Windows 2012 based
server, with multiple laptops, all – in – one computer systems with multimedia facilities.21
LIBRARY
HOSTEL
The library has literature predominantly related to management and its allied subjects. The library has a hybrid collection of printed as well
as electronic resources which includes more than 14,000 books, international journals and magazines (more than 10), national journals and
magazines (more than 75), more than 76 periodicals, audio-visuals, CD/DVDs, reports, database and case studies. The Institute has
invested in electronic resources like EBSCO, CMIE Prowess and Emerald Online Journal Database that have more than 1000 business
publications to foster better learning and to facilitate research activities of students and faculty members. The Institute also has
institutional membership of the Vikram Sarabhai Library at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and the British Library as well
as Inter-library loan facility with our sister institutes.
Residential facilities are available for outstation students at AES run hostels. There are separate hostels for boys and girls.

Facilities for Recruiters
Companies intending to visit the campus for recruitment may contact the Placement Cell with the basic details about company, job (profile, description, location, compensation offered) and any other specifications, if required. Once the interest of the company is received the Placement Cell will make necessary arrangements for the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT), final selection and inform company of the same.
PPT provides an opportunity to the recruiting company and the students to interact with each other and this helps students to take an informed decision. The presentation by the company is in general regarding the history, growth potential, future plans and details about the profile, compensation package/ location offered and any such relevant information.
Companies are invited to schedule PPT starting from the month of November, 2015.
The company is requested to inform the Institute Placement Cell of their recruitment procedure. The company may send details of their selection procedure (online aptitude test, psychometric test, group discussions, number of rounds of interviews, etc.), which will enable the Institute to make necessary arrangements. By the end of the selection process, the company will inform the Institute Placement Cell about the final selection of the candidates thereafter in writing.
The Institute is well equipped with necessary facilities. It has state of the art, air-conditioned classrooms equipped with multimedia and audio-visual equipment, classrooms for group discussions, and boardroom for conducting personal interviews.
