Hardware Arrives for ERP ProjectIn late December, NERDC welcomed hardware that will be a part of the UF EnterpriseResource Planning (ERP) project. Two IBM p630 series racks that house 11 servers and oneIBM "Shark" Enterprise Storage Server (ESS) 2105 were delivered and installed. These bothplay a major role in the deployment of UF's ERP system. The p630s act as Web, application, and database servers for the PeopleSoft software which is being used to implement UF's ERPsystem. The Shark disk subsystem will act as the storehouse for the data: student records, financials, and other information that is a part of running UF.

In January, PeopleSoft sent its own employees to do a certified install of the softwarecomponents.

For more information about the ERP, please see http://www.erp.ufl.edu

This equipment is apart of the PeopleSoft System that's being used forthe UF ERP. The Data Center is housing hardwarefor the ERP.

Mike McKee, left, and Steve Williams, both ofHughes Relocation, uncrate the Shark in theNERDC lobby. The crate includes its own ramp toroll the equipment down.
