HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS What You Will Need: l PC (minimum Pentium 3; Macintosh not supported) l Internet Access (Broadband connection) l Internet Browser (Internet Explorer 6 & above; Netscape Navigator not supported)
Plug-‐Ins: l LEAD Flash Player l Macromedia Flash Player l Macromedia Shockwave Player l MathPlayer l All LEAD LMS Components l WebEQ Math Player l Han Yu Ping Yin Font for Chinese students only
STEP 1. DO A SYSTEM CHECK l Launch your Internet Explorer. l Type in the web address http://www.lead.com.sg l Click on "System Check" link in lead portal.
STEP 2. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL PLUG-‐INS l Internet Explorer Version will be displayed in System Check Summary.
l Click on "Download" icon if the required plugins are not displayed with "Installed"icon.
l Click on the download Button for LEAD Flash Player if your computer does not have LEAD Flash Player, for example.
l The screen below will appear. Click “Save”.
l Click “Save” on desktop.
l The screen below will show the software in the process of being installed on your desktop.

l The screen below will show “Download Complete”. Click “Open.”
You will see this screen. Double click on the icon.
l You will see this screen displayed. Click “Next”.
l Click “Install”.
l The screen below will show the software being installed.
l Once the software is successfully installed onto your computer, the screen below will appear. Click “Finish” and you are ready to access the online learning tasks.
STEP 3. LOGGING INTO LEAD.COM l Launch your Internet Explorer. l Type in the web address http://www.lead.com.sg l If you are prompted for TRUSTED SITE, click YES to trust the sites.

TROUBLESHOOT : WHERE DO I GO TO FOR ONLINE HELP l Before calling the school Helpdesk for help, go to lead.com FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). Click on FAQ.
l The FAQ window will pop up and you can then scroll the screen the look for the question that is similar to what you are facing.
l Click on the selected question and scroll the screen to read the answers and solutions to your question.
STEP 4. ACCESSING YOUR ASSIGNMENTS l Log in to lead.com. l Go to My Assignments. Click on View My Assignments to view the offline homework assignments posted by your teachers.
l You will be able to see the assignments your teachers have assigned you.
COMPLETING YOUR LESSON ASSIGNMENTS l Click the lesson assignments. Eg: P5 E-‐Learning Day English. Another window showing the English lessons will pop up.
l Click on each folder and read the instructions to your assignments.
l Click on assignment and you will be able to see the tutorials, activities and tests that your teachers have assigned you.
l When answering tests, you need to all the questions before submitting your answers by clicking on Submit.

COMPLETING YOUR OFFLINE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS l Click the OfflineHomework assignments. Eg: Trial. Another window showing the English lessons will pop up.
l Another window will pop up. Click Attachment(s).
l Click Save.
l Another window pops up. Follow the 3 steps below to download the offline homework.
l Click Open to read the offline homework.
l Document is opened and you can now complete your assignment. Once you have completed your assignment, save the document and get ready to upload the saved document. You do not have to exit from lead.com while completing the assignment.
UPLOADING YOUR OFFLINE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS l From the same window where you had downloaded your offline homework, click Browse to begin uploading your saved homework.
l Click ‘Ok’.

l Another window pops up. Follow the 5 steps below to upload the completed homework.
l Previous window returns. Follow the 3 steps below to submit the completed homework.
l Click ‘Ok’.
l Click ‘Close’ and continue with your other assignments.
STEP 5. ACCESSING AND USING THE CHATROOM l Go to My Assignments. Click on View My Assignments.
l Follow the step below.
l This is the chatroom in which you can communicate with your teachers and other classmates. Your teachers will post a topic for you to discuss with your classmates and you can send several messages. The communication will occur at real-‐time.
l YOU ARE NEITHER TO USE VULGARITIES IN THE CHATROOM NOR TO USE THE CHATROOM TO INSULT YOUR FRIENDS. Keep closely to the topic of discussion and do not deviate from there.
l Click Close once you have contributed your comments and when the teacher asks you to log out of the chatroom.

TROUBLESHOOT 1: COMMON LOGIN PROBLEMS PROBLEM: The Login fields are greyed-‐out. I cannot type anything into the box. SOLUTION: You need set Lead portal as trusted site to fix the problem. PROBLEM: I have forgotten my password, how can I retrieve it? SOLUTION: There is a password retrieval system which allows you to retrieve your password. The steps are as follows: l Click "Forget Password" icon found on the home page.
l Type in your name, login ID and school ID and click "Submit".
l Once done, the system will automatically send your password to the personal email account that you have specified in your profile.
TROUBLESHOOT 2: PROBLEMS ACCESSING RESOURCES PROBLEM: When I click on some of courseware, there is no response. SOLUTION: Some of the courseware within LEAD requires the use of pop-‐up window and if there is no new window appearing, it may be caused by a pop-‐up blocker. l Click "Tools" button and select "Pop-‐up Blocker". Select "Turn off Pop-‐up blocker".
l Follow the instructions below to turn off pop-‐up blocker for Yahoo! Toolbar:
l Click "Pop-‐up Blocker" and uncheck the "Enable Pop-‐up Blocker"
l Select "Turn off Pop-‐up blocker".
l Follow the instructions below to turn off pop-‐up blocker for Yahoo! Toolbar:
l Click on the icon "x block" and status will change to "Pop-‐ups Okay"
l Select "Turn off Pop-‐up blocker".

TROUBLESHOOT 2: PROBLEMS ACCESSING RESOURCES PROBLEM: I have received a few assignments, but have not been able to open the files/attachments. When I click the link, a dialog box "Click to run ActiveX controls" appears. But when I select "OK", a red X appears on the top left screen. SOLUTION: Most of the lesson packages within LEAD are flash or shockwave-‐based and would require the installation of these plugins. You can install the latest Flash and shockwave Player via the Install Plugins page located on our LEAD Login website.
PROBLEM: When I click on a shockwave courseware, an error message "Missing Shockwave Decompression Xtra" appears. SOLUTION: Shockwave Player is not installed properly or you are having an older version. You can install the latest Flash and shockwave Player via the Install Plugins page located on our LEAD Login website.
PROBLEM: When I click on the reading comprehension resource found in some lesson packages, all I see is a black screen. SOLUTION: Shockwave Player is not installed properly or you are having an older version. You can install the latest Flash and shockwave Player via Adobe website at www.adobe.com or the Install Plugins page located on our LEAD Login website. You can check the version that is currently installed on your system by clicking here.
PROBLEM: I can't view any of the Math equations. All I see are weird characters. SOLUTION: MathPlayer is not installed on the system. Go to the Login Page to install.

PROBLEM: I can't view any of my Chinese test papers. All I see is square boxes. SOLUTION: East Asian Languages is not installed on the system. To install East Asian language files for Window 2000 and XP:
l Click Start and go to Control Panel.
l Double-‐click Regional and Language Options.
l On the Languages tab, under Supplemental language support, select the Install files for East Asian Languages check box.
l On the Languages tab, under Supplemental language support, select the Install files for East Asian Languages check box.
l After the files are installed, you must restart your computer before the new settings will take effect.
l Once your computer is up, go back to Regional and Language Options.
l On the Advanced tab, change the Language for non-‐unicode programs to Chinese (PRC).
l Click OK or Apply. (You will be prompt to insert the Windows CD-‐ROM.)
l Click Apply and OK and restart your computer.
