Seller Insight “The land on which these two houses stand has been in my wife’s family since 1921,” says David, “and it was handed

down the generations. We had always said that once we retired it would be a beautiful place to build a new home, and that’s exactly what we did in 2008.”

The exceptional property consists of a spacious, two-bedroom bungalow, adjacent to which is the main house that has been beautifully designed to meld with the vernacular architecture. “When the house was designed we very much wanted it to blend in with the rest of the houses in the village,” says David, “but we were also able to make sure that it was built to the highest of standards. Inside it’s extremely spacious, light and bright and incorporates all the modern conveniences, including under-floor heating.”

“The sunroom, kitchen and dining area are open plan,” says David, “so that is the space that we tend to use the most, and just like the garden they all face south, so during the summer months in particular the sunlight floods in. The thing that I think we most enjoy is sitting in the sunroom and taking in the wonderful view of the garden and orchard beyond. In spring the apple trees are in full bloom and we have a large bank that is filled with daffodils and crocuses, and in the wintertime it’s equally as striking, particularly after a heavy snowfall. With the blue sky up above and the snow-covered trees silhouetted against it… There really is nothing more beautiful.”

“This is a wonderfully peaceful and beautiful location to live in,” says David, “and we’re lucky enough to have everything we could possibly want or need practically on the doorstep. We both love to play golf, and Lindrick and Bondhay are only a few minutes drive away; we enjoy walking, whether it be locally or a little further afield in the Peak District; and in terms of shops and amenities the village is very well served and we’re only a matter of minutes away from places like Sheffield or Worksop.”*

“We have a lovely annex above the garage,” says David, “which is completely separate from the main house. It means guests have all the facilities they need and can come and go as they please.”

“This has been a wonderful home and I think it will be very hard for us to find somewhere to match it. We’ll particularly miss our days spent in the sunroom looking out at the

orchard. It really is quite a sight.”
