The client is India's largest manufacturer and supplier of rubber chemicals.
They are part of a well known business house in India with diversified business
interests. The company offers a range of rubber chemicals such as rubber anti-
degradant, rubber antioxidant, rubber accelerator and rubber pre-
vulcanization inhibitor. The client has several manufacturing plants and use
state-of-the art technology for manufacturing.
The products manufactured by the company are used by the tyre industry and
all other segments of rubber-processing industry. These chemicals not only
accelerate the vulcanization of rubber, but also extend the life of rubber
products in addition to improving their performance.

The client had a fragmented IT landscape
consisting of disparate systems leading to no
real-time integration with other IT systems.
As the client was pursuing its expansion
plans, they decided to optimize IT
infrastructure and migrate the applications
and its users to the latest technologies. The
objective was simple-to improve business
processes, reduce costs and optimize back-
end operations critical to their dynamic
business growth.
The client had been working on the legacy
system for quite some time. Any change in
the business solution landscape was
ex p e c t e d t o p o s e m a j o r c h a n g e
m a n a g e m e n t c h a l l e n g e f o r t h e
organization. This prompted the client to
look for an enterprise solutions partner who
besides devising a new solution that would
complement their legacy ERP, would also
help them in successfully mitigating the
organization-wide change management
challenges.
Solutions Offered
HCL Infosystems was chosen as the
implementation partner by the client. In
order to reap maximum benefits with
optimum utilization of resources and time,
HCL Infosystems along with the client took a
mutual decision to divide the project into
two phases. Phase - I of the project included
implementation of Core ERP Application
(SAP ECC 6.0 with Enhancement Pack 5) and
Phase - II of the project included
implementation of SAP Business Objects
for Reporting.
SAP's chemical industry best practices
were used along with the core modules
such as Financial Accounting(FA),
Controlling (CO), Sales & Distribution (SD),
Production Planning (PP), Quality
M a n a g e m e n t ( Q M ) , P l a n t
M a i n t e n a n c e ( P M ) , M a t e r i a l s
Management (MM), Project Systems (PS),
ABAP Developments and Business
Workflows. The SAP solution was extended
to client's depots and interfaced with
consignment agents system to enable
capturing of agent sales periodically.

Phase - I of the project went within
st ipulated t ime of 28 weeks and
implemented about 8 modules. All
resources for the project catalyst were not
exclusive; instead they were made to handle
SAP besides routine business operations.
Phase II of the project is planned for the
implementation of SAP Business Objects for
enabling the quicker analysis of the
operations to the top management.
