URGENT – Parents of Year 6 Leavers It has become a tradition for Year 6 parents to arrange a party for the children and their families. The party usually takes place after school, during the last week of the school year; it is a lovely occasion! A few Year 6 parents are already thinking about what needs to be done, they will be meeting at the Parent Forum coffee morning on Wednesday 24th May at 9:00am, please come if you can, to help with the planning and decision making

BUNS This Friday it will be the turn of Year 6 classes to provide the buns,

thank you for your continued support!

Year 6, this is your last turn EVER to bring the buns!

Can You Help? There is a Stay and Play group in school every Wednesday afternoon, and they need some helpers … would you be able to please spare some time? If you are able to, please contact the Parent Forum at their coffee morning on Wednesday mornings! Thank you

Family Learning We have a great new course starting after the holidays – it’s called “Woodland Play”, and all of the exploring will be within the school grounds. As part of the course, you will join in with establishing a safe area in the school woodland for injured hedgehogs who could not otherwise live in the wild. Interested? See Tracey and Christine in the office for more information or to book a place. Tuesday mornings! Crèche available.

Parent Forum News This week at Coffee Morning there will be the first of the Diversity Workshops led by parents! Please come along and find out more about a culture different to your own, it will be lots of fun Coffee Morning takes place every Wednesday from 9:00am to 10:00am. Second hand books and nearly new uniform will be available to purchase or swap. ALL parents and carers are welcome!

Parents Evening It was lovely to see so many of you at Parents Evening, thank you for coming! If you didn’t manage to attend, please speak to your child’s class teacher to make an appointment to meet either before or after school.

Fidget Spinners Despite making sure that all children know NOT to bring any toys, including Fidget Spinners, into school, we have had a number of incidents of children bringing them in, taking them off each other, damaging them and arguing about them. Can parents please support school and make sure their children DO NOT bring any toys or fidget spinners into school.

Ukulele A while ago, one of our pupils lost her ukulele. We have waited and waited for it to turn up, but it hasn’t … we have searched the entire school … do you have any idea where it might be? The ukulele was lost in April, it was in a pink carrier bag and was in a Year 4 classroom. Please let us know if you have any news!

MILK If you child is not having milk at the moment, but they want to have it after the holidays, the cost is £5.10. You need to pay at the office by Friday 26th May!

We have a pond Year Four have recently built a pond in school to help with their Spring Topic. The children have been involved in the building, digging, planting and designing of our fantastic pond.

We now have lots of creatures taking habitat in the pond, from tadpoles to hedgehogs!

Please come and have a look and see if you can spot any wildlife.

All children will be learning to pond dip on Thursday 15th June – please wear sensible clothes this day!

Pupils Perfect Pond Story by Fimi and Aimen Y4RH

Year 4 made a pond because we were learning about how small actions eventually can change the world.

We started at the beginning of March 2017 and we finished our pond on the 30th March when we had a STEM showcase and set some tadpoles free into our new pond.

The pond is located in St Catherine’s school near the dining room, this is a perfect spot because everyone gets to see it on their way to get their dinner. The Year 4’s worked very hard to dig the pond.

To get more people involved we had a big dig where parents came in on a Saturday to help us. Everyone worked great as a team and the pond looked like a pond by the end of the day.

Mrs Hopewell a teaching assistant in Y4 said “I like learning about all the animals and that Y4 have done a fantastic job creating it”

Jan a Year 4 student said “I love seeing more and more creatures everyday”

Martha added “I like pond dipping and at the end of the session releasing the creatures back into the pond”

Each class will get the chance to go pond dipping on a weekly basis. The project is great for all the school.
