We continue to have our Worship Services available on our website emmanueloshkosh.org

Although we aren’t ready yet to join together in worship, we are looking into a plan for worshiping together which is relatively safe for everyone. Please check

out our Facebook page and website for any future updates.

If you have any questions or concerns, please know that the church office is still open weekday mornings between 8:00am and noon. We would be happy to help!

Stay safe and wash your hands!

Many of you have been lamenting, “How long, O Lord, how long? How long will we have to watch Pastor Andi on TV? How long before we can gather together at church? How long—I miss my church.” Many of you have also been on a longer than normal excursion with kids and have heard a version of that lament from them, “How much longer? Are we there yet?” I tie these two laments together because right now I feel like I’m driving this bus and I don’t have the answer you all want to hear. I’m not sure how much longer. I don’t know when we will be there—I have an idea, but its still a bit abstract. I am reading much about how the virus is spread and how we can slow that spread. I am talking to healthcare people and county health department officials. All in all, I’m trying to figure out when it will be the right time with the right circumstances. I’m looking for the right season. Your church council and I are working to put in place a plan to resume in-person worship. We understand your impatience because we feel it too! We are not dragging our feet but proceeding with caution. In the coming weeks you can look forward to having a plan in place for when we will resume in-person worship, what guidelines are in place, and what to expect should you choose to gather with us. Until then, please remember that worship can be found on our website and Facebook page. In the coming weeks we will also be making DVD’s available. Keep the faith, friends. This season of COVID will not last forever. No matter how long our worship life is modified, we will remain Emmanuel, God-with-us. And as the people of Emmanuel UCC we know that not only is God with us, but we are with one another.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

The flowers have started blooming and we are slowly beginning to return to some of our activities. While these past months have been difficult for many, it has allowed us time to reflect on our many blessings including our ability to continue staying connected through our online worship and facebook live events. We continued to defer $4,624.53 of previous expenses to future months and ended May with a positive cashflow. We are looking to pay those postponed expenses over the upcoming months which will require our income to be able to cover our regular expenses along with the deferred amount. As we are entering the middle of our typically slower summer giving months, I want to thank you for both your financial and other contributions that help us to meet the needs of our church and community. As a reminder, here are various ways financial support can be given: Send a check in the mail Drop off a check in the church’s mailbox Utilize bill pay services through your financial institution Purchase scrip cards. Purchases can be done via a check sent or dropped off at church or easily done online with a link to your checking account. There are now various re-loadable cards which I have found to be easy to use and to easy to re-load with additional funds. May Results on next page

Food Pantry Update

Our food pantry continues to provide food to those in need with curbside pick up. During the month of May we helped 51 families. 105 adults and 37 children were served. 5 new families came to our pantry. Approximately 2550 pounds of food was distributed. We are still unable to accept any used grocery bags or non perishable food donations at this time. Thank you to Mark & Susie’s Piggly Wiggly and Jay Koepke and Festival Foods for their food donations. We appreciate their continued support. Thank you very much to the following volunteers for their continued help throughout the week. Thank you to MARGARET YODER, RAY HITZ, SANDY FOLSKE, CHERLY PEPPLER, DEBRA KRAEMER, MARY DINKINS, HENRY CARON, PETER SMITH, JIM SCHAICK, DAN MONROE, LEANNE MONROE & RON GORCHELS. Are you in need of a little extra help with food? If you need some assistance, please don’t hesitate to call the church office at 920-235-8340 and we will be happy to help. We have an over abundance of meat available as well as canned goods. If you would like to come in and shop in the pantry, we can make arrangements for you to do so. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call. If you are unable to come to church for help, arrangements can be made to have food delivered to your home. This is a difficult time for everyone and we know for some money is tight we would like to be there to help you in any way we can. This is a ministry of Emmanuel, supported by Emmanuel so we want to make sure that you know we are here to help.

COMMUNITY BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR

The Back to School Fair Committee is preparing for the 22nd annual fair which will be held on August 13, 2020. The needs of lower income

families with children in our school system continue to grow. The BTSF Committee is determined to assist 1000 students in the 2020/2021 school

year.

Contributions to the Back to School Fair are going to be a little different this year. Due to the pandemic,

monetary donations are requested instead of purchasing clothing. It is the committee’s hope to supply

each student with school & hygiene supplies and a $25 gift card for clothing to help them begin the year

with confidence.

You can make a donation in one of two ways:

Issue a check to Emmanuel UCC in whatever amount you choose and we will purchase gift cards through

our SCRIP program. (please make a notation on your check for BTSF)

Write a check to Community Back to School Fair in any amount you choose and mail it to: Boys & Girls

Club (Attention Back to School Fair) 501 E. Parkway Avenue, Oshkosh WI 54901

If you are issuing a check to Emmanuel UCC for us to purchase gift cards, please have your donation to us no later than July 31st. We

will have a SCRIP order going in on August 2nd. Thank you!

Please remember, if you have prayer request you can enter it on our website at www.emmanueloshkosh.org. You can also call the

church office at 920-235-8340 any weekday morning.
